Hi everyone! It's been a while! We are starting in on week two of our vacation in the hottest state on the planet at the moment, Arizona. It's been fun though...no complaints! Hubby and I had a fabulous time for a few days sans kids (thanks to my wonderful in laws for taking them for us!!!) in Scottsdale at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel. Oh my goodness, it was heavenly! We enjoyed a few days to ourselves and managed to fit in a lot...we lounged by the pool a few times, went shopping a few days, had some great meals out together at nice restaurants, made a few trips to the gym, got a massage, saw a few movies...like I said, heavenly. By the time we left I was starting to miss my kiddos though so it was the perfect amount of time away. It was just what we needed after a crazy few weeks.
We have one more week here in the desert before heading east to our new state. And when I say we're in the desert, I couldn't think of a more fitting word. I'm living in a sauna out here! It's been hot, for sure. I guess it's just preparing me for what's to come. Since we're still homeless for another week and a half I'm still living out of a suitcase and not quite on a normal routine, so the blogging will continue to be sporadic. Bare with me! I do have a few outfit shots to share with you today...I have a two-fer for ya! I wore my Modcloth version of the Layered Column Dress to church the last Sunday we were in CA and then decided to bring it on our trip since it's such an easy piece to pack...it hardly wrinkles. I wore it again, just a little differently, last Sunday. Here's how both outfits panned out:

Similar looks, yet different...all it takes is some different jewelry and a new color of shoes and you have a whole new look!
So I mentioned hubby and I did a bit of shopping while we were on our little getaway...I picked up a few things, but our last night there hubby surprised me by taking me into Kate Spade and having me pick out a new wallet and purse for MY graduation present. No, I didn't actually do any graduating myself but I think I managed to pulled my weight on the home front the past 4 years.
Here's the cute purse that's currently hanging on my shoulder:
Love!!! It's a reddish-coral color...so in for summer! I've been carrying a very neutral color bag for the past many months so this is a fun way to change it up. Happy graduation to me! =)
Alrighty, off to a family dinner. Hope your week gets off to a great start! We don't have any big plans for this coming week...just some swimming, a little shopping, some more visiting, and celebrating my youngest son and hubby's birthdays at the end of the week. Fun times!
Have a good day!
Glad to hear you are doing well, hang in there! Love both ways you styled that dress!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE alive! What a fun week - shopping and dinners out sans kids is always a welcome escape in my book. My friend was here last week from Utah and laughing at my excitement of a simple trip to Target without my kiddos. ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys can move in and get settled soon - it's chaos living out of a suitcase!
I totally agree...Target without kids is so much better! =) It's the simple things, right?!!
DeleteThat dress is PERFECT for traveling/living out of a suitcase. Loving your stylings! I honestly become a night creature when I visit AZ...I hibernate during the heat of the day! The Biltmore is one of my fave shopping zones. So glad you had a getaway with your man. Sounds DIVINE! Hot dang, loving your Kate Spade grad present. That husband of yours...he's a good one. Major brownie points. Hope you keep cool! Good luck with the trek east!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Molly! =)
DeleteNice 'graduation' present! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Your hubby is way cute for getting you a graduation present. :-) Love both of your outfits! Have fun and good luck on the move!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
Deleteglad to hear your safe and sound and that you got a little break after all your stressful packing! I'm sure you'll be so ready to get all moved in soon. Thanks for some more ideas on how to style the layered column dress, love both of your looks. :) And glad to hear you got your cardi and love it, can't wait to see it on the blog! Oh, and I LOVE your KS bag, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great break, indeed. Thanks! =)
DeleteYour bag is sooooo cute...what a lovely present from your husband. Perfect color for summer, I agree!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very fun color, I agree...thanks so much!
DeleteLove the dress. Hang in there. Before you know it you'll be in your new home. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! =)
DeleteAbsolutely adore the dress and even more so with the yellow! I hope you and your family are doing well. I''ve been following your blog for a while and (although I sound like a creeper) I am glad y'all got some much needed r&r! I will continue to keep your family in my prayers. Good luck on the move!

Thanks so much for reading Ali! Thanks for the kind comment too!
DeleteI saw that handbag today on a woman, in turquoise. The shape is so cute. I love the dress w/the floral cardi. Good style eye. And your hair. It really looks amazing, whatever you did...a little shorter..different curling iron...?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Gigi! I cut a few inches off a while back. I actually haven't been curling it as much lately because I wasn't sure I liked it curled at this length but it's growing on me. You're so sweet to notice! =)
DeleteI don't know if you've found mint green skinnies yet, but I found a pair that I love! I purchased them in a boutique (you could call and ask if they still have them), but I saw them online as well. I just posted an outfit pic wearing them. They're Free People Cropped in Spearmint; I found them on 6pm.com.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a nice vacation in Scottsdale! I'm from the East Valley of Phoenix. Good luck with the move and everything else!! :)
