I like to follow the trends. I don't always jump on all the band wagons, but every now and again I find myself joining in on the fun. When the high-low dress trend sparked up this past spring I was intrigued. I looked for quite a while to find the perfect high-low dress and after a bit of trial and error, I found what was to be my token high-low piece in my closet:
What I Wore
Jackie Cardigan-J Crew Factory
Shimmer Dust Belt-Anthropologie (now on sale for $29.95 in gold online)
Shimmered Seagrove T-Strap Sandals-Anthropologie (now on sale for $19.95!)
Color Goes On Necklace-Anthropologie
Skinny Resin Bangle-Banana Republic
Repercussive Light Earrings-Anthropologie
Fireworks Ring-Banana Republic
I took this cute dress in an XS and the winning moment for me was the fact that the high section in the front actually covered my knobby knees somewhat...score! I tried the cute Striped Terry Midi Dress that went on sale this week at Anthro and loved the cute color and striping, but it just didn't hang on me the way I wanted it to. The fabric is heavier so it just sorta flared out at the bottom instead of hanging straight down and the "high" section was about an inch above my knees, which did NOT cover up my knobby knees. Sadly I passed on that one. I just really liked the way this Nordstrom dress fell and the fun Kelly green color. It's a color I don't have a lot of so it fit great into my closet. I would highly recommend this dress to anyone in the market!
I ended up wearing this dress last week while we were staying in Scottsdale. I felt like relaxing a little so I went with flat sandals, which I rarely do with a dress. It made walking around the mall pretty darn easy though, I must admit. I think I'll go for wedges next time though...change is good. =)
Hope you're having a great week!
I've tried on some high/low dresses and felt the look was too severe. Your dress, on the other hand, is a chic and classic tank dress with a twist and it looks gorgeous on you. Fantastic find!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Ya, this dress isn't as severe in differing lengths as I've seen on others...I liked that too.
DeleteI love the high low look. This one looks AWESOME on you!

Thanks Emily!
DeleteLove the dress on you and the color combination. How fun.
ReplyDeleteI haven't jumped on this one yet. They look lovely on others, but on myself I'm not liking them.
ReplyDeleteThere are so may trends I have passed on that were super cute on others but I just couldn't do it myself...totally get it! =)
DeleteThat dress looks great on you! The high low cut definitely flatters you. I own several dresses high low dresses and am really enjoying that trend right now. I love the purple/green color combo too!

Thanks so much for the comment Jenny!
DeleteTotal fan on this trend and you look amazing in your new dress! I REALLY LOVE the color combo or the green with the purple - gorgeous - and perfection with that necklace. I finally threw those sandals into one of my recent sale orders, can't wait to get them - there is definitely a need for flats sometimes - glad they kept you comfy while you got your shop on ;) Hope things with your move are going smoothly - look forward to hearing that you are moved in and settled soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jan! You will love the sandals...they are super comfy and I love the multiple metallic colors! Next week will be another crazy one...move in day is near! =)
DeleteJenni, so glad you're back! I've been a long time lurker but it's time to break out of anonymity to tell you I love that purple on you. And overdue, but your hair continues to look amazing since the cut!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! You are so sweet!!!
DeleteI have awarded you the On Lovely Blog Award on my blog in tonight's post.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great high-low dress to jump on the band wagon with! I love that the "high" is below the knee...very chic!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the green with the purple! And the high low dress. I am yet to jump on the band wagon but still deciding if I can pull it off. You rocked it !
