Tales of a crazy weekend

Hi all! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Our whole weekend got turned upside down when we were faced with the news that my husband's car was definitely done...we had to either pay an enormous amount of money to get a new engine (like more than the 10 year old car is worth) or buy a new car. We chose the latter. After many hours of searching (both with three kids in tow and not...thank you grandma and grandpa for taking our three munchkins off our hands for a few hours so we could seal the car deal on our own) we finally found a car for an amazing deal and I now have one happy husband. His birthday happens to be in about 2 weeks so I guess I'm all set in the gift-giving department...happy birthday to him! =) We ended up getting a 2012 Hyundai Genesis...it's a pretty sleek looking car and he looks good driving it...fits him well!

Even with all the car craziness we were able to fit in some fun family activities to celebrate the 4th...we went to a pancake breakfast with my parents in their neighborhood, we went in the backyard and ran through the sprinklers, we had a family movie night complete with Orange Dreamcicle smoothies...and I even talked hubby into helping me detail my car inside and out...looks brand new now! It was a fun day until Josh got called in at midnight last night to see a patient...party over. =(

I have two outfits to share from the weekend...first up is from Saturday when I had my hair appointment (notice the "done at the salon" hair) and we went car shopping:

-Ikat print Tank-J Crew Factory
-Cardigan-Loft Factory
-Cropped Pants-J Crew Factory
-Crossroads Belt-Anthropologie
-BP "Tee" Sandal-Nordstrom
-Necklace and Bracelets-Tiffany
-Earrings-Nordstrom
-Ring-Pree Brulee

I decided to dress in my red, white and blue for church on Sunday:

-Curated Tee-Anthropologie
-Ackee Skirt-Anthropologie
-Seychelles "Purr" Wedge Sandals-Amazon
-Necklace-Forever 21
-Earrings-J Crew Factory
-Ring-Pree Brulee

This was probably my boldest attempt at pattern mixing yet...kinda fun! Not that this is super bold or anything...for me it was though!

Did anyone find anything they couldn't live without at the Anthro sale this morning? There wasn't anything on my "must-have" list that hit sale so I passed. I just barely got around to stopping by Anthro yesterday with a bag-full of returns anyways! I did try a few things on when I was there yesterday and found a couple new things to add to my long-running wish-list though (of course) including this beauty:

LOVE!!! =)

It's hot as hot can be here in the bay area this week...we've got plans to go to the splash park with friends on base tomorrow and then to the neighborhood pool to meet up with some more friends on Thursday. Gotta find ways to keep cool around here! Hope you're surviving the summer heat wherever you are and having a great week so far!!!

  4. I LOVE your Ackee outfit! LOVE!!! You did a great job pattern mixing!

Sorry to hear about the car. Car issues stress me out BIG TIME. So much so that hubby refuses to ever let me in on how much repairs cost because I just get so bent out of shape. It's always more and worse than you expect. Hope it all works out for you and your family!

  5. Bummer about your car! I hate it when major expenses suddenly spring up. At least you were able to make the best of it. Oh, and the color of that Loft cardi with the Ikat tank looks amazing on you! Totally suits you!

  6. Love your blue white red outfit. I was in the same mood over the weekend, hard not too with the holiday, right? And the color mix of the first outfit is just brilliant!

Congratulation on the new car purchase. As the Chinese said the "old one is not gone, the new one won't come".

  11. Oh, and totally off topic: Do you know the name of the paint on the door in your pictures?? We want to paint our front door and the color on your door looks similar to a picture we saw in a Williams Sonoma catalog. Random question, I know :)

  13. Thanks Michelle, Carly and Julie!

Michelle--We are renting this house so I have no idea what color was used to paint our front door! The house was built in 2001 or 2002 I think so it was a color from way back then. Sorry I'm not more help!

  17. 2 Beautiful outfits Jenni and that new car sounds so nice!! Let me say I love your pattern mixing and prefer the second outfit a tad more. That skirt and top are totally my style (esp. the bold skirt). I love the turquoise necklace with it, too. Last but not least that Red & White wish-listed top is gorgeous. Hope you actually bought it. =)

Don't forget to hop over my place and check out my style. Thank You.
