The skirt I forgot I owned...

As I was cleaning out my closet yet again last week I found a skirt that I've had for YEARS. In fact, I don't think I've worn it since we've lived here in CA...and we moved here over three years ago! I moved it to the front part of my closet so I'd remember to wear it and a few days ago I finally brought it out. For some reason I had a really hard time figuring out to wear with it...and I'm still not even sure I love this combination, but went with it. Sometimes neutral colors are more intimidating to work with because there are so many possibilities...I just didn't know what direction to go. I ended up going with light on bottom and a contrasting darker combo on top:

Details:
-Tank-J Crew ruffle tank (Fall 2009)
-Cardigan-LOFT (Spring 2010)
-Skirt-American Eagle (about 4-5 years old)
-BP Stella Sandals-Nordstrom (Spring 2010)
-Metal Hannerhead Bracelet (Gunmetal)-J Crew (on sale now)
-Necklace-Banana Republic Outlet
-Hoop Earrings-New York & Co

I wanted to get a little dressed up since we were going out to dinner to celebrate my youngest son's birthday...he turned one over the weekend. My baby is no longer a baby...time flies!

If you have any fabulous ideas with what to pair with this skirt let me know...I'd love to hear it!

  1. I like the skirt in that outfit. You tied in the darker tops w/the shoes. Plus your legs are lighter and that lengthens the skirt. The skirt is not one small area of white in a sea of dark clothing. Happy Birthday to your son :-)

  4. I love the way you styled it! It looks like a pretty neutral color so just about anything would go I think. I can't tell from the pic what the material is like but in winter it might look nice with black tights.

  5. Thanks Gigi! We had a fun time celebrating. And yes...my nice stark white legs blend in well with the skirt! haha. I need a tan! =)

Ina--love the white and cognac wedge idea...I'll have to try that! Also, the bracelet has an elastic band so it expands, but I can't imagine it being too comfortable if you have a very large wrist. My wrists are tiny so it fit fine.

    Thanks "Spiffy"!

Jessica--LOVE the idea of black tights in the winter...I'll have to remember that! =)

    Thanks ladies!
