My Mommy Fashion Diaries

I'm a stay at home mom.  I don't work outside the home (unless you count my many trips to the grocery store, Target, the doctor, etc), I often times don't see many people in a day's time (especially if I'm just staying home to do laundry or clean), and I could probably get away with staying in my gym clothes most days without anyone knowing.

The thought is tempting some days, trust me.  And I may have done just that on Monday. Maybe. No judgement, thank-you-very-much.  Some days it's just necessary without having any guilt involved, am I right?!!

That being said, this mommy has decided getting dressed up makes me feel better and be more productive. Do I get the occasional "What are you all dressed up for?" or "Wow, where are you going?" comments just for throwing on something that matches?  CONSTANTLY!  I say it's never a bad thing to try to look nice though so I don't mind the remarks. So go for it ladies!  Go into your closets, find something cute you love, put it on and own it!  Get dressed like you're going somewhere today.  And maybe even venture out to run an errand or two!

You know you were probably going out anyway...might as well look cute. =)

Here was my "errand running" look yesterday...I was trying my hardest to channel warm weather with some bright colors.

Original Polyvore Set for this look can be found HERE

Stripe Painter Tee-J Crew Factory
1969 Legging Skimmer Jeans-Gap
Mossimo Waylon Harachi Cork Wedge Sandals-Target
Drawing Room Necklace-Anthropologie
Baroness Bliss Teardrop Earrings-Ruche

Apparently my bright colors didn't do the trick...it's pouring rain here this morning.  Ugh.

Can't win 'em all I suppose!

Happy Thursday!

  1. I can SO relate to those comments. It drives me crazy! I do it to feel good about myself too, enough said. That necklace is an outfit maker. Nothing better than multi-colored beads!

  2. I love this mentality. I even have to remind myself of this sometimes even to go to work. Our office is casual so it's easy to fall into the "nobody really cares" slump!
Did you all have a hail storm yesterday? I think every car in the parking lot @ work was hit...it was intense!

  3. Very cute.

I lounge in my new Gap sweatshirt dress in neon pink and leggings. It's cute enough that it doesn't feel like a sweatshirt.

  4. Good for you! I used to work from home and it was way too easy to be lazy and just be in sweats and no makeup all day - or worse, my robe! That was part of the reason I started my blog, to still remember to "get dressed" each day!

  5. I am also a SAHM and aside from picking my kids up from school nobody really sees what I wear. Regardless, I still like getting dressed and looking cute. I just feel better about myself and I think it's nice to look good for your husband. I would hate for him to ever think I gave up on myself. It's fun being a girl! We should enjoy it and look cute even if we're the only ones who notice!

  6. Definitely not a bad thing to try and look your best, even if you're just running errands. I've had my fair share of remarks with a catty undertone, and I just want to say, "Who cares??" Seriously, not the worst that could happen, right?!?

    1. Totally! I often wonder if it's other's lack of confidence in themselves that drives the catty remarks...I just wanna say "Anyone can look cute if they try!"

  7. I hear you!! Although the stormy weather had me in leggings for a few days this week, making the effort even if I only go get milk and buy stamps that day makes me feel better.

  8. Seriously adorable errand running look. I have also spent days in gym clothes, so definitely no judging from me (in fact that is a step up from pj days...) The whole reason I even started a blog was to "make" myself care about what I look like each day :)

  9. I work from home and most days my only outings are to walk the dog, go to the gym/grocery store. I can definitely relate how easy it is to fall into a rut. Love your blog - always look forward to getting inspired from your cute outfits that are also practical and comfy :o)
Sometimes when I get one of those remarks - why are you so dressed up...where are you going? I secretly want to ask.. why'd you brush your teeth...going to the dentist? Lol! ;o)

  10. I am also a stay at home mom and I always dress up. It makes me feel better to be put together and I feel like I am showing respect to myself and my family to do so.

  12. I get those same remarks plus the added "You are making us all look bad." Sometimes I want to say back to the haters, "No, you are choosing to look bad." Dressing doesn't take too long. I say get your "dress" on!!!

  13. LOVE that you still look cute despite being a stay-at-home mom! I think it's almost expected for moms to "let themselves go" after having kiddos and I never want that to be the case for me!

I noticed today that you have my blog listed under your "blogs I like to read" feature, and I wanted to say a very sincere thank you! Your blog is so inspirational, so it's amazing to know that you like mine :)

Hope you're having a great weekend!
