Happy Friday!
Somehow this week totally got away from me and blogging took a back seat to all the other things we had going on. Life happens! Since today is the first day of March, I HAD to share my excitement over the fact that this is the month spring arrives! YAY! I don't know that I've ever looked forward to warm weather arriving more than I do this year. It's been a long, cold winter people...bring back the sun! March also brings some excitement for our family as we are traveling quite a bit. We'll be heading to Arizona in a few weeks for my brother's wedding, and we are heading to England the week after that for 12 days! It just hit me that all this is happening in like 2-3 weeks...I need to get ready!
So I thought I'd deem today "Fancy Friday" and share a look I wore a few weeks ago to church...that's where I get to wear my "fancy" outfits each week.

I wore this dress to a family wedding a few years ago. It's been fun to mix and match it with different colors each time I wear it...black, purple and now this teal have been my favorites to wear with it.
Speaking of fancy and wedding guest dresses...I had a sudden burst of regret over the Boden dress I purchased to wear to my brother's wedding a few days ago (see previous post about the dress HERE). It's not like I don't like the dress I chose, because I do! I just decided it's not my favorite for this particular event. So I spent quite a bit of time surfing the net looking for another option yesterday. Let me tell you, it's not easy to find exactly what I was looking for! I knew I still wanted to use the Ivanka Trump "Apryl" cobalt blue pumps I ended up purchasing for the previous dress so I had that to find something to go with those. Not an easy task when you add in looking for something knee-length. Everything is either short (above the knee) or maxi length these days! Finally I decided on a fun, bright and cheery dress I found at Nordstrom...according to the measurements listed online I think it will be long enough (crossing my fingers and toes!!!). Here's the dress and how I might style it for the wedding:

I don't know about the necklace...I think the dress needs something bold, yet not too busy because of the print of the dress being so busy, so I'll have to try it all on together to see how it looks. If you have any other necklace suggestions I'd love to hear! And again, let's hope the dress is long enough on me to work!! If not, I'll have to go back to the drawing board, or maybe just even wear the first dress I had purchased.
I thought the new dress looked really cute with what my boys will be wearing:

I thought it would be so easy to find yellow ties this time of year, but boy, was I wrong! I ended up custom ordering these on ETSY HERE...love them! They are just what I was looking for!
The funny this is that I have another brother getting married in May and the colors for that wedding are very similar...his will be bright blue and turquoise. I think I'll just reuse these cute shirts and find new ties or vests for my crew...two for the price of one, thank you very much! I, of course, will need a new dress.
Of course. =)
Hope you have a fantastic Friday!

I like the potential dress better than the Boden dress -- I love Boden and have a number of beautiful dresses from there, but that particular style you've got, while super cute, just doesn't feel festive enough for a wedding. How fun that you've got 2 family weddings coming up! No more weddings on the horizon for us.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I was starting to feel like it was too drab for a wedding. I'll still wear it to church or whatnot because I do like it, but I just decided I really wanted something more colorful for the wedding. Perhaps it was that BLAH, dark winter weather that drove me to the first dress! ;)
Deletewell of course i LOVE the bold floral print and yellow cardigan look!!! i hope that dress works out for you!!! and oh my goodness...your boys are going to look ADORBS in those outfits.

I love the bold print...probably because I don't hardly ever choose things like that for myself :) And those shoes are gorgeous!! Best wishes with your travel preparations! How fun that you have two exciting trips coming up this month!

wow! I love the Blooming Goldenrod Dress on you!
ReplyDeleteHi. I like the use of color w/ the tights and shoes.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Stella & Dot Fiona BIb? It's light, can be dressy or casual and would be a perfect statement piece for the dress. Plus, you'd wear it with many other things in the spring & summer. It's been a big seller for me. Here's a link http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_en_us/shop/necklaces/necklaces-all/fiona-bib-necklace.html. I love this necklace over a print, too. http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_en_us/shop/necklaces/necklaces-all/kimberly-necklace.html
