Happy Tuesday!
After a few days of warmer temps we're back to bitter cold winter weather. I did it again...I accidentally left my house yesterday without a coat. Big mistake. I didn't get far though...my son ended up falling asleep in the backseat 5 minutes in. The boy was more tired than I realized! I made one quick stop at the gas station (and FROZE as I filled up the car) and then decided to head back home. That was the quickest outing ever! I think I just need to keep a coat in the car at all times...this CA girl is having a hard time remembering she lives in Ohio sometimes!
One thing I have been remembering to wear a lot of lately are scarves! They are so warm and cozy and can add a pop of color to an outfit in no time!

I'm still on the lookout for a more sturdy denim shirt. The one I wore above is a thinner material, a more appropriate weight for spring probably, but I made it work. I've tried some heavier denim shirts on at J Crew at Madewell recently and they have all either been too short, too baggy, or both. I'm looking for something not too short and fitted! If you have any suggestions, let me know!
So on my last trip to Anthropologie I was hoping to try on the Stripewise Chemise, but was disappointed when I found out my local store hadn't received it yet. I'd been eyeing it online from the moment it appeared and was anxious to see it in real life. Since they didn't have it, I did the next best thing...I ordered it. It finally arrived last week and I LOVE it!! It's really cute and comfortable and will be a perfect item to bring with me on our trip to England in March! Yes, I'm already thinking about my packing list! =)
(sorry, bad picture quality...it was raining out and there wasn't any good natural light when I took this picture)
I ordered the dress in an X-Small and the fit was great. The mid-section is ruched and can be moved around to your liking. It's not too bulky as the fabric isn't too thick so it falls pretty good. Although the fabric is on the thinner side, it's not see-through by any means. I'll still wear a slip with it anyways, out of habit. I read some reviews that said the dress was way too long on some, but it fell perfectly for me (I'm 5'6"). I could wear flats without it brushing the ground and wedges (as pictured above) without it looking too high water. All in all I give it a thumbs up and I'm excited to add it to my closet.
Have you tried on the Stripewise Chemise yet? What do you think?
Alrighty...off to get some things done around the house! Hope you have a great day!
Love the Stripewise Chemise on you! It has such nice drape and is super flattering!

Deletegorgeous -- love the first look on you! xo

The Stripewise looks fantastic on you. I looked at it in San Diego, but felt the ruching would hit at the wrong place on me. Now I wish I would have tried it on.... It would be a GREAT touring dress! I have always wanted to tour England. I'm so happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! You should definitely try it on...when I first looked at it I sort of thought the same thing...wondering if it would fall oddly, but it worked!
DeleteI actually ordered that shirt on factory sale just last week and am interested to have it for spring (which it sounds like will be OK given its weight). I've not tried it, but another idea for a potentially heavier denim shirt is Boden (www.bodenusa.com) -- they have one version on clearance and one in the new shirt rollout (though I'm not sure I like the seaming on the newer one as much).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Boden tip...I'll definitely take a peek! And you will love the camp shirt...it's fab!!! It will be great for spring, for sure!
DeleteThat's funny that you forget you don't live in CA any more. I posted about 2 denim shirts today. HTH
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link...I'm headed to check them out now!
DeleteHey! I have a denim shirt from Lucky that I love. Actually, I wore it in my Christmas card pic. That one may be sold out but it is thicker with a great shape.
ReplyDeleteAlso, when I first found your blog I was reading on my phone and just kept scrolling through. You had a yellow skirt that stumped you... (not sure when it was) try wearing denim with that! Or a plaid button-up with a faux fur vest! So fun. xo- Kara
Fun ideas!!! Thanks for the Lucky tip...I'll do some googling and see what I can find! I loved that top on you in your pictures...darling!
DeleteHow fun that you are going to England! I have a denim shirt from Lucky that I actually bought second hand but it has a great fitted hour glass shape (which I am not an hour glass but it helps me look that way). It's a substantial material.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Lucky...I'm definitely going to have to track down their denim shirts!! Thanks for the tip!
DeleteLOVElovelove the first outfit, I'm such a fan of mint jeans and love your layering there! I heard that Old Navy has a heavier-weight chambray-style shirt right now... I ordered it already, so I will report back with a review! :)

DeleteI think it looks amazing on you! On me, I don't think it would work so well. ;)

Thanks Shannon! =)
DeleteI am so excited to see you wearing mint colored jeans in January! I just got a pair from Loft but have been trying to figure out when it's appropriate to wear pastels since its the middle of winter! Thanks for the inspiration - I may wear them this weekend with my new denim shirt from banana!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!
I say pastels are good all year round! I don't follow any rules, obviously! =)
DeleteI love this look, how in the world did I miss that you are going to England!!?? I went a few years ago and fell in love. I am so jealous.

Thanks Emily! Yes, we are headed to London and Paris for Spring break...my husband's brother and family live in England so we're going to visit them! We're super excited...we've never been!
DeleteYour scarf looks so cozy. And that chemise was just made for your body - long and lean!

Love the mint pants!! They look great on you. I love how you are adapting all if your outfits to Ohio weather, you are teaching me a thing or two and I have lived in Ohio my whole life.
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of The Bachelor this week? Desiree is my new fav so far, hoping she doesn't blow it by getting too jealous so early on!
Thanks Karen! It's definitely taken some getting used to, dressing warmer in the winter and all, but it's starting to become more normal! So the Bachelor...I'm so over Tierra! She's trouble! Desiree is very sweet...I had the same thought though...wonder if she'll get super jealous! The model chick needs to calm herself down...she was so crazy when they found out they were doing the photo shoot! There are definitely people still there that are for sure not gonna last long!
DeleteOh yes, that model chic is a tad bit annoying. Lets hope she doesn't suggest a night of skinny dipping like Courtney, the last crazy model! Ha!
DeleteI have a similar pair of mint pants :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know that J.crew has a shorter denim top .. I need shorter tops (long tops look bulky since I sit)
Don't you love the mint color? I find it matching even more things than I thought it would!!! =)
DeleteLOVE you in that dress! It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheaffer! =)
DeleteI love those mint pants paired with that scarf! what a great outfit!
ReplyDeleteMay I ask what size you took in the Factory Camp shirt? I've been eyeing it online for a few days, but when I called on its measurements, it seemed like it ran small. Did you take your usual size? It looks great on you, and very versatile! I'm in the market for a new one - I've worn my old J Crew standby OUT. Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented on your blog lately, although I do check it out regularly and love all of your outfits! I just got a pair of mint green jeggings and love how you styled them!
