Dress Love

I love Sundays.  It's the day I get to push everything else aside and focus on family, church and rest.  Win-Win!  And the added bonus?  Getting all dressed up!  During the week I'm very much in mom-mode when it comes to getting dressed.  While I try to still look nice in my more casual outfits, Sunday gives me the opportunity to actually pull out a skirt or dress and some cute colored tights and high heels.  I don't work outside the home so unless I'm attending some special event, Sunday is all I get to bust out the nicer section of my wardrobe and style it in a dressy manner.  Last Sunday I wore a dress I stalked until it hit sale at Anthro...I held strong and was even able to get it for an additional 25% off the sale price!  Sale on sale...score!

Do you work outside the home?  Or are you a homemaker like me?  How often do you get "dressed up"?  Do you wish you had more opportunities to get dressed up?  I do!!! =)

I'm headed to my basement to get my run on...got a hot date with my treadmill. =)

Have a great day!

  1. I do not work outside the home and I love skirts and dresses. I am always overdressed and get asked, "Where are you going?", almost everyday. If it is a warmer day with the sun shining and no snow on the pavement I will wear a skirt or dress. I wore a maxi to walk the dog the other day! I did have other places to go so it wasn't completely inappropriate. :).

I love that dress you are wearing! I saw it on sale but skipped it because of the length. Kicking myself because I'm starting to really like the longer styles. Oh well..there will never be a shortage of things to love at Anthro!

    1. Thanks Shannon! I totally know what you mean...I feel overdressed a lot of the time, and I used to feel weird about it, but now I just don't care. I feel better if I put some time into what I look like most days so I do! And I totally agree...there is never a shortage of gorgeous offerings at Anthro...for good or for bad! =)

  2. I don't work outside of the home, so I am usually trying to find ways to style jeans, but I do love skirts and dresses. I have been trying to change my frame of mind, that I need to be going somewhere to wear a skirt. I should be able to wear one whenever I want, right? But it's just too cold right now. :)

    1. YES! I totally agree...if you're feeling it, go for it! I wear maxi dresses a lot when the weather is warmer...it's kind of my compromise of looking a little dressier. The great thing is that they're so comfy that it's like wearing pj's! =)

  3. Love Sunday's for this too! I was all dressed up yesterday, and ended up staying home with a sick kid :( I have a stack of skirt and dress outfits all set up in my closet, but I might have to start wearing them on weekdays so I can wear them all!

Love this dress! It's so gorgeous! I tried it on, but it never came home with me. Did you get the petite length?

    1. Oh no! Hope your little one is feeling better! So yes, I did go with the petite length for this dress and it was a much better length on me. It was online only so I took a risk by ordering it instead of the regular length but in the end it worked out! Hope you guys are doing well! =)

  4. I am a homemaker and mostly wear pants but I love dresses and skirts that I can dress down to wear during the week. I love to get dressed up and don't have enough places to dress up to go. I love to get dressed up for Sundays.

    1. That's true...you can style dresses a little more casually to make them more appropriate for the weekdays. When the weather warms up a little I may try to wear some skirts with some flat boots!

  6. You look great in dresses. The fact that you are like a 00Petite probably has something to do with that! :)

  10. Love this dress...just like the many others you have sported lately. I also love the tights you used to add in some extra color. I'm so cold today I'm covered from head to toe and still shivering :)

BTW, I'm back at a new location for now!

  11. I work full-time in a corporate office so I get dressed up every day for work and it has been a good change in mindset for me to also try to put together cute casual outfits on the weekends when I'm not in office. On weekdays I wear mostly skirts and dresses with heels. I have 2 young kids, so on the weekends I definitely gravitate more toward machine-washable, comfortable, etc. But you were totally right when you said to give the skinny jeans a try -- the more I wear them (esp. with boots), the more normal they look to me and now I am kind of enamored :) My next project is trying out a pair of slim black ankle pants for work with heels. I have definitely not strayed beyond trousers for work as of yet -- so this should be interesting.

    1. YAY! You went for it! I'm telling ya, once you go there, there's no going back! You will love the black ankle pants too...pair them with a fun bright top and cute heels! =)

  12. I'm now a SAHM and miss dressing up in heels for work! I try to dress up my casual everyday looks, but wedges are as dressy as I can get with a toddler. So, I look forward to my husband's various work events. The dress looks wonderful on you!

    1. Thanks so much! I hear ya, I depend on functions and events to allow me to get all dressed up too, besides church on Sundays. Girls nights are fun to get dressed up for too!

  13. Love the dress! It looks super cute with that belt! I am a dress girl too, I love the Summer when you can wear them more often and not get asked why you are so dressed up as much. My Summer uniform is a cotton dress, sunglasses and flip flops. I used to be a Corporate Accountant before I left in March to stay home with my two kids. I sell Thirty-One Gifts now so I do dress up at times for parties or vendor events. I also love getting dressed up for church because it is a rare occasion where I get to wear some of my old favorite work outfits that are now collecting dust in my closet!
So what did you think of The Bachelor this week? Who is your fav? I really like Des and Lesley although I am thinking that Selma is the dark horse I keep hearing about after watching the previews for next week. Should be interesting, is it sad I look forward to it all week?

    1. Thanks Karen! =)
So the Bachelor...pretty good episode. I'm glad Kacey went home...she was totally trying to create this whole issue and it was so unbecoming...bye-bye! I really liked Lesley by the end...she's adorable! THey would make a cute couple! Des is super cute and I think they'd be cute together too...her jealousy issues haven't gotten too out of hand either...just normal annoyances for good reason I think. Selma hasn't gotten a ton of screen time so I'm interested to see how it goes next week. By the looks of the previews, it seems it goes pretty well! lol We shall see!!! =) And I totally love it and look forward to it every week too! I actually watch every Monday and then get together with girlfriends on Wed night to watch it altogether...it's our little girl TV time every week! So fun!
