Baby, It's Cold Outside!!!

Happy Thursday!

One week until Thanksgiving...that's crazy!  Christmas music has started playing on the radio here and I'm loving it!  I even got my Christmas cards ordered a few days ago...perhaps I'll get them in the mail by December 1st like I always say I'll do (but then never actually do).  We've also spotted some houses in our neighborhood with Christmas lights and decor up this week.  Bring it on!  My boys asked me if we could get our Christmas tree out to decorate soon and I suddenly realized we don't even have one!  We ended up throwing ours away during the move this year.  We had purchased it about 8 years ago at Wal Mart for about $35 (we were poor dental school students at the time...well, my husband was in dental school).  I have to say, that $35 tree lasted much longer than I expected, but when half the lights went out on it last Christmas and the branches were starting to look a little sad, I figured it was time to move on.  Add that to my Christmas shopping list!

This week has been FREEZING!  The highs have been in the low 40's and let me tell you, this California girl thinks that's pretty cold!  I busted out my new puffer jacket yesterday and it was perfect...toasty warm.  I'll be bringing that to NYC with me next week for sure!  In case you're on the lookout for a great puffy jacket, I highly recommend it:

Renewed Folds Pullover-Anthropologie
 Drawing Room Necklace-Anthropologie
 Strung Hoop Earrings-Anthropologie
Ring-Forever 21

The built-in drawstring is perfect to cinch the coat in the middle so you actually have a waist!  For reference, I took this in an X-Small.

Speaking of cold weather, I picked up new hats and gloves for my boys last week for our trip to NYC.  I'm anticipating Thanksgiving morning at the Macy's Day parade will be quite chilly and my sis-in-law has informed me that we need to be pretty early to get a good seat so making sure we're all warm is high on my priority list.  I'm still on the hunt for a warm hat me...I thought these were some cute options:

Nordstrom

J Crew Factory

Anthropologie

Guess I better hurry up and decide...we leave in 5 days!

Last week we had a few days of nicer weather when I actually didn't have to bundle up to walk outside...here's an outfit I wore on one of those unusually warm days:

Rosy Cap Sleeve Ruffle Top-Forever 21 (OLD)
BP Three Quarter Sleeve Cardigan-Nordstrom (2011)
Ultra Skinny Jeans-Banana Republic
Jessica Simpson "Lex" Flat-Nordstrom (2011)
Small Open Circle Necklace-Shabby Apple
Double Hoop Earrings-Banana Republic
Bracelet (left wrist)-Twisted Silver
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Henry Chrono" Watch-Piperlime
Cupchain Bracelet-Stella & Dot

I've had most of these items in my closet for a while now...the cardigan is one of my favorite finds last year.  I picked up several of them in different colors when they went on super sale for just $15...score!  If I can find a great staple piece for that price I always buy multiples!

I'm off to get some things done around my house.  Hope you are keeping warm wherever you are today!
