There are certain items I always refer to as my "closet classics". These are the workhorse items that get used over and over and over again. I have several. Some of these closet classics are jeans, some are cardigans, some are shoes. Some were a little more expensive, others have been relatively cheap. My closet has a little bit of everything. Last week I pulled out some classics and paired them together to create this look:
Gathering Tank-Anthropologie/ AG Stevie Ankle Denim-Anthropologie/ Denim Jacket-Gap/ Miz Mooz "Siri" Knee-High Boots-Endless (now Amazon)/ Drawing Room Necklace-Anthropologie/ Sainte Chapelle Earrings-Anthropologie/ Flower Bud Ring-J Crew
This top has been in my closet for a few years...I liked it so much that I bought it in multiple colors. It's fantastic for layering. The AG denim was a sale purchase last year...and one of my favorite pairs of jeans, hands down. I picked up this denim jacket just last month for only $21 with a promo code and a rewards card in hand...not bad for a staple denim jacket! The boots were my go-to boots last winter, and are still strong in the winter shoe rotation...love these! Well worth the cost. All the jewelry has been worn multiple times...especially that ring. I actually lost the ring while we were in the middle of our move this summer and I was devastated I loved it so much! As soon as we were close to a J Crew retail store again I went in and had them track me down another to replace the one I lost. I think I may have gotten the last one in the country because that sucker was hard to find! As you can see every piece in this outfit has been in my closet for a while (except the jacket) and have become closet classics in more ways than one.
Of course I have many more closet classics hanging in my closet than just these...there are a lot. I like being able to mix and match the things I love, to create new looks. I want to keep trying harder to remix what I have already and find new ways to liven up my classics. Changing up the way you style or pair something is an easy way to make an item feel brand new!
What are your closet classics?
Have a great weekend!!!
Very cute and pulled together! Your post a couple of weeks ago had me inspired to pull out my Gap denim jacket - I bought it probably 10 years ago and NEVER wear it - it's one of those pieces that I put on, and then take off and switch with something else. BUT, for once I wore it out the door, and I truly loved it! I think it would be fun to run a post with readers submitting their denim jacket inspiration - I'd love to see more ideas :) I just ordered some Steve Madden wedge boots with the Piperlime promo to replace this Miz Mooz pair, I sad, sad, sadly ruined mine - I don't know what I spilled on them, but they are in sad shape. I hope the Steve Madden pair isn't too shiny though, it was hard to tell from the pictures...if they don't work out I seriously may try to find the Miz Mooz again and just get the same pair - they really are perfect!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Glad you found your jacket again!! I can't believe I was so against wearing one...I love the look now! So sad about the boots... The thought has crossed my mind to buy an extra pair for when mine bite the dust. They are just the perfect wedge boot!! I have seen them around still so I may still! Good luck! And welcome back!! Were you on a vacation??
DeleteWe were! We took the kids to Disney and celebrated Graham & Campbell's birthday's there - so fun! I see the Miz Mooz boots are still on Amazon and I have a 20% coupon for them, so if I don't like the Steve Madden pair, that is probably the route I will go!
DeleteYou have wonderful staples! I so love that sulfur plum color of AG denim and am still sad that I could never track them down in my size. So versatile!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! You should totally try eBay or the EA trade market... I bet you could find a pair still!
DeleteThis totally rocks. Love the color combination with the denim jacket. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa!! :)
DeleteA denim skirt is my closet classic.
ReplyDeleteI would like to update my denim skirt....I need a pencil skirt version. I can see that being super versatile!
DeleteJeans - if I am not in a skirt, I'm in jeans. Can't ever have too many pairs!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!! Isn't it funny how you can always justify another pair of denim?!!
DeleteLove the color combination of this outfit! So cute!

I totally know what you mean by closet classics. There are certain pieces that I wear all the time and are tried and true. I also LOVE AG jeans. They are my favorite jeans, hands down as well. So soft and flattering. I really love this look you put together. The combination of green and salmon is really beautiful on you.
