Lets Talk Jeans

Do you have a favorite brand of jeans?  I'm always curious to hear what brands people have found to fit them best.  I have a few brands in my closet right now that I turn to on a regular basis...I love my Always Skinny Gap jeans, my American Eagle jeggings are super comfy, I have some Banana Republic Skinny jeans from a few years back that I still grab every now and again, and I am a huge fan of my J Crew Factory Toothpick ankle denim (the retail version doesn't fit as well I think...weird).  However, my all-time favorite jeans are the AG Stevies Ankle leggings.  I love them!  I have them in 4 colors now, they're that good.  I wish I could find them in a dark denim!  I've only ever seen them come in the regular length in the dark denim which is too long on my shorty legs.  I need them in an ankle length to make them work for me.

The AG's are made from the most soft, wearable denim ever.  They are fabulous.  The downside, however, is the hefty price tag.  I've only ever paid full-price for one pair...I've been able to score the rest at around half-off or more.   I just can't stomach full price on a regular basis for these.  When I saw Piperlime carried a few new colors of the my beloved AG's a few months back, I started stalking the site for a deal on the gorgeous "Sulfur Sun" light yellow color.  I had been saving up a bunch of my rewards points for something special and finally I was ready to pull the trigger.  Then they sold out of my size.  So sad.  My size always sells out of everything first, I swear!  I checked back a few times to see if there had been a restock...no such luck.  A few weeks passed, and I decided to check again.  Low and behold they had ONE pair in stock.  Woo hoo!  With a discount code and my rewards points in hand I pounced on that one pair and was so happy to receive them at my front door step a few days later.

I pulled them out this week for the first time and paired them with a very neutral color top to stick with a pastel color palette.  You know me though, can't go ALL pastel.  I threw in something bright at my feet just for fun:

What I Wore:
Volante Tee-Anthropologie
AG Legging Ankle Denim-Piperlime
Colorblocked Oxford Heels-Anthropologie
Triptych Hoops-Anthropologie
Bracelet-Silpada Jewelry (gift)
Ring-Forever 21

Tell me what your favorite brand of denim is...I'd love to hear!

Before I go, I thought I'd leave you with a little something sweet to get the weekend started:

Raspberry Cream Pie

I made this for a "Pie Party" I went to the other night.  It was SOOOOO good, if I do say so myself.   The recipe comes from The Pioneer Woman...she rocks.  Just in case you feel the need to make one too, you can find the step by step instructions and recipe HERE.  No pressure.  =)

Have a great weekend!

  2. Yes, love those jeans... nice soft yellow. My faves are the Premium skinnies from GAP outlet... honestly have only ever found them at the outlet and I have them in every color and length (white, dark rinse, distressed, ankle, regular, long)... I just keep buying them because I'm afraid they will some day stop making them. HA!

    1. Sometimes I totally want to do that...stock up on things I love because I'm afraid I won't be able to replace them! You just never know!

  4. I found the Zelda fit from Express many years ago and recently came back to try them again... still a really good fit for me. The Stella fit doesn't work as well, which is a shame because some of their pants only come in Stella. I tried on a bunch of jeans at Anthro recently--Pilcro, Daughters of the Liberation, Joe's--and didn't like any of them except for the AG leopard jeggings, so I'm looking forward to trying more AGs in the future. But they are so expensive! I did like the Pilcro Stet Slim Straights, but reviews say they stretch out a ton.

    1. I haven't tried Express in a few years. Usually they are all too long on me and they didn't used to make a ton of short length items. Maybe I'll have to give them a try next time I'm looking for something. YOu should definitely give the AG's a go...I love them! As for the Pilcro Stet Slim Straights...they do tend to stretch a tad but not so much that they look bad. AG's are a better fit overall I'd say.

    2. I have a 29" inseam in pants, which is a pain because many "short" or petite sizes have a 30" inseam--not long enough to hem, but long enough to drag on the ground. My favorite pair of Express bootcuts, I suspect were manufactured too short... but I believe their Zelda skinnies are 29", which was perfect for me when I tried on this year's model. I'm a rectangle shape with apple tendencies around the waist and narrow hips, so I like the low rise because higher rises always pinch if they fit my hips well. I had that issue even with premium jeans like the Joe's at Anthro.

    3. You should definitely try the ankle length AG's... They're inseam is around 28" I believe. They are the perfect length! Thanks for the suggestions!

  5. I agree with all your favorite jeans, I alternate between the JC toothpicks, Gap always skinny, and AE skinnies. I just love the pale lemon color of these AG jeans, but they're a little more than I usually spend on jeans...

    1. Thanks! Yes, the price point isn't my favorite...that's why I try hard to wait for sale or when I can get them for much cheaper with rewards and discounts like I did this time. They are worth the wait!

  6. Cute outfit! For me, it's AG Jeans...all the way. They are so comfy but cute. Yes, the price tag is steep, but I can often find % off promotions here and there on various website. Plus...since I wear jeans every day (I can wear jeans at work too!) the cost per wear is practically nil. :-) At least that's what I tell myself. Have you tried the AG Stilt Roll Up jeans? They would probably be the perfect length for you and they come in different rinses with just a little cuff. Really cute and comfy and no hemming needed! Also, the new AG Angelina Petite Bootcut in the Savannah was is PERFECT for flats. I have other Angelinas that need to be worn with heels, but for some reason this new pair is just perfect to wear with flip flops, sneakers, flats. :-)

  7. I love my J Crew Factory Hipslung jeans and the AG Stevies also (although I hate the price tag). Right now, I am on a quest for some boyfriend fit jeans and it is tough (trying to spend less than $75). First off, I don't want distressed jeans with a bunch of holes in them (I cringe as I type this because I truly sound like my mother)and I don't want stretchy material either. Love it for the skinny jeans but I want something like the feel of an old pair of Levi 501s. I know I am dating myself but they were my favorite in college.
Also, love your positive attitude about your move.

    1. haha...you are too funny. I say wear what you love and own it! No reason to apologize! I personally haven't shopped for boyfriend style jeans for a few years because I've determined they just don't look fabulous on me but I think others look so cute in them! Hope you can find some you love!

    2. I love the JC hipslung jeans! I miss them - haven't tried the factory version yet though because they don't come in shortie versions unfortunately. I'm stuck scouring Ebay for "new" jeans.

    3. I wish the Factory store carried everything the retail store carried so badly...they don't carry toothpick denim in "short" length either. When I saw the "ankle" length I jumped on it but wish they had it in other colors too!

    1. Thanks Slastena! Good luck on your hunt...i've been looking for the perfect green jeans and hope I finally found them. I just found a pair of J Brand leggings in an Anthro sale room for $50...did a charge send to try them out. Hoping the color and fit works! Who knew it was so hard to find the perfect colored Jen huh? :)

  10. I used to work at Jcrew so I have a lot of their jeans...if you don't like the retail toothpick, you should try the downtown skinny...they honestly look good on so many people. The classic flare fit really well too!! They are my favorite jeans that I own!
