Hi all! Remember me? It's been a while!
I'm back and ready to start thinking about blogging more regularly now that summer is almost over. I'll still be a little sporadic for the next few weeks as we enjoy the remainder of our summer vacation, but once school starts Aug 26th I'll be more consistent. I have to say, I have some fabulous readers! I really didn't think anyone would notice much that I took some time off blogging, but I received some very sweet emails from readers that made me smile...asking if I'd be back and hoping I would be. Thanks so much! You made my day. =)
So even though I may not have been blogging as much, I've still been keeping my eye on some of the newest releases from my favorite stores. Since my best friend was here for a week in July, we couldn't pass up the chance to head to Anthropologie and try a bunch of things on. Of course we found some new "must haves" and even brought home some fun things as well. We deemed it our "most boring color palette day ever" at Anthro because shockingly we were drawn to all blacks, greys and pinks! Such a difference from our normal bright and bold color routines. Sometimes it's ok to step outside the box a little though, right!?! Keeps life interesting.
I went to Anthro that day with really one thing on my mind...finding the Nora Peplum Top to try on:
If you follow my blog, you know that I have a very long torso. This proves to be a problem for many styles of tops, including peplum tops. I have tried countless times to find a great short-sleeved peplum top to fit my long torso and have come up empty handed so many times. I do own a great 3/4 sleeve fancier lace Peplum top I found at Anthro last year, as well as a peplum jacket from J Crew I grabbed for my trip to Europe earlier this year, but have never been able to find a casual peplum short sleeved top that can just be worn on a daily basis. Then one day I saw this cute Peplum Top online at Anthro and about died when I saw it was over 26" long! Could this be the one???
Guess what...it was!!!
Love at first sight!!
I took this cute top in an X-Small and it fits perfectly! It's so super comfortable as it's almost a sweatshirt material, but doesn't weigh a ton. It's the perfect length on me and I love the amount of peplum it offers. Two thumbs up! I tried the gray version on first (above) not thinking I'd really like the color on me, but turns out I totally did. It's not a true gray...it's like a heathered black/white mix that looks kind of gray from afar. It's actually a really pretty color. Next, I tried on the black motif and liked it just as much as the gray. So I sat outside my dressing room mulling over which to get for a good 10 minutes while my BFF was finishing up her try-ons. In the end, I decided to get both. Why? Because they were long enough! And when it's an uphill battle to find a peplum top long enough to cover your belly like it has been for me, you buy both. End of story. I know both will get tons of wear.
I decided to bring the black version with me on my girl's weekend trip in Utah last weekend...here's how I styled it:
Nora Peplum Top-Anthropologie
Harachi Cork Wedge Sandals-Target
Baroness Bliss Teardrop Earrings-Ruche
Golden Totem Bracelet Set-Anthropologie
Geometric Bouquet Ring-J Crew
I like that although it's a casual piece, you can totally dress it up with jewelry. As always, jewelry is my favorite way to transform a look!
Speaking of Anthro, did you score anything on sale on Monday? I already owned a few of the great pieces that hit sale (Nubuck Gladiator Wedges and Braided Twill Trousers both get great reviews from me) but I managed to find some pretties to add to my closet:
I've been waiting for this to hit sale since I tried it on in Denver in May...it's so cute!!! Just for reference, I took it in an X-Small.
I tried this on last weekend and really liked it. The neckline is high enough to cover everything, but is a little on the wide side. I can make it work though, I loved the longer length! I found the X-Small to be the right fit.
Apparently I was really on a red/orange kick on Monday! This cute cardi is perfect for fall...color, weight, sleeve length...perfection! I also tried this one on in Denver and took it in a size X-Small. SO happy it finally made it to sale!
I had originally passed on this cute necklace but when it hit $19.95 this past week I couldn't pass again! My BFF wore it while she was here and I loved it on her. It almost looks like art...so fun!
Did you pick anything up? Score any great deals?? I'd love to hear!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!
the peplum top looks so cute on you!ReplyDelete
Thanks so much Tara! :)Delete
I'm excited to see this because I was just reading another blog and that girl mentioned peplum was on its way out. After being pregnant, I'm just able to get some wear out of my cute peplum tops...I'm hanging on to this trend as long as I can! :)ReplyDelete
P.S. These looks great on you! I love how you've dressed up such a comfy tee.
Well peplum is definitely a steady trend in my world! I'm not as big a fan of the peplum skirts...I could see those not being a current trend soon but I'll happily rock my peplum tops for years to come! ;)Delete
Yeah, you're back. I'll take it even if it is in small doses for now. I love the gray peplum top on your...so cute and great sale scores too.ReplyDelete
Thanks so much, Melissa! I'm glad to be back! =)Delete
Oh my gosh, I'm officially in love with that peplum top and need is asap!! It looks darling on you! Love all the stuff you got on sale too. Man, anthro has been having some good sales lately. :) Glad to see you are back!ReplyDelete
You're telling me! They have so many cute things right now so the faster they all hit sale, the better! =)Delete
Oooh, I love the black with the green. I have something so similar that I'm going to copy you!!!ReplyDelete
YAY! I had never done this color combo before but I liked it too!! =)Delete
Glad You are back to posting. Such a cute outfit!ReplyDelete
Thanks so much!! =)Delete
ohh I love all your picks!! The peplum top looks gorgeous on you!! I have the necklace too :-) You can't beat 20 bucks for a cute statement necklace!!ReplyDelete
Totally agree! I love a great deal!!Delete
Well you know I love me some orange as well...the orange beaded statement necklace I have takes a ride AT LEAST once a week..so that cardi is right up my alley.ReplyDelete
Glad to see you back in action...its hard! I actually have more free time in August to blog because I don't have many personal shopping clients (everyone is on vacay and already shopped out for summer) so September is when it will get tricky for me.
Anyway...I also have a long torso..I found a cute peplum tee from the brand Language, and it is long enough too (most aren't) but I am not sure I am still smitten with the style?
Anyway...always love you roundups. Happy weekend to you.
SO you totally get my long torso problems...it's rough! Most tops seem to be made for people with short torsos. When you find something that works, you have to jump on it!! Thanks for stopping by!Delete
I saw that top there and wanted to try it on -- it looks amazing on you! xoReplyDelete
Oh, it would look so cute on you...give it a try!! Thanks!! =)Delete
I hadn't noticed you have a long torso but wow those tops really hit the mark for you, I don't blame you for buying both tbh! Hope you've had a great summer so far - looks like it via Instagram, a lot of swimming with those gorgeous boys of yours :D xReplyDelete
Thanks so much!! Yes, our summer has been fantastic! I'm sad to se it end but some routine will be good again for everyone I think! =)Delete

I've thought about it but just haven't added my blog stuff to IG...I've kept it more for family stuff. I may add some here and there in the future. Thanks! :)Delete
