A few Anthro Fitting Room reviews...and the J Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Clover Tweed!!!

Happy Tuesday!

Oh, how I wish every weekend was at least 3 days long!!!   We had a great few days off and I enjoyed everything from a date night, a hair appointment (bye-bye low-lights, hello blonde!), a little retail therapy, church, a little exercise, some yummy dinners, booking a weekend trip with my BFF for this spring, swim lessons for the kids and we even capped the weekend off with some ice cream at our favorite local ice cream shop, Graeter's last night since it hit a balmy 55 degrees!  I had to laugh...my BFF said it was 55 degrees in CA last night and she was bundled up on the couch in a blanket trying to get warm...funny how 55 degrees can mean such different things in different parts of the country!

So here we are, back to our regularly scheduled programs. Kids were off to school this morning and #3 and I headed to open gym for him to burn some energy off.   I thought I'd blog a little too and do a little recap of my shopping trip this weekend...there was a little Anthro involved! =)  I tried on a handful of things, not a ton.  I found a few things I really liked though!

in Black (only motif available)

This top has been at the top of my wish list since I saw it pop up on the website...I just love the colors, the design and the shape of the top.  I tried this on in a size small because it was the smallest my store had, and found it to be too big.  You can still get the basic idea though.  It's a little sheer, not horrible, but I'd probably wear a cami underneath for extra coverage.  The colors are super vibrant which I love, and it can be paired with pants or tucked into a skirt easily.  Overall I was in love with this top from the second I put it on.  I asked the sales associate if they had anymore X-Small's in the store and they didn't...she said the top was uber-popular and they were selling fast!  Since I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket from a giveaway I won on Moody Girl In Style's Blog last month I had my store go ahead and order it for me in the X-Small and it's on it's way to me now.  Can't wait to get it!

in Crimson

This could be considered the Sveta Peasant Blouse's fraternal twin...Silvi.  It's the same shirt, just a solid instead of a print.  I was able to try this one on in an X-Small and the fit was good.  As you can see, the color is a gorgeous bright red, and the top itself is a little sheer, so an under layer is recommended.  I LOVE this top and will be watching it to go on sale, for sure.  Wish listed!

in Blue (left) and Green (right) motifs

I love stripes...they always grab my attention, so when I saw this top online, I knew I'd have to give it a go!  I usually have a thing against bird prints but for some reason, the bird print in the green motif peaked my interest a little...go figure.  Maybe I'm branching out?!   I tried both of these on in size X-Small and they were both good fits.  I will say the blue motif fell shorter than the green motif for some reason, even though they were the same size, so I'm not sure if this is the same across the board, or if it was just this particular one I tried on.  I honestly would have brought one of these home with me, but I couldn't decided which I liked better...so they stayed put...for now.  What do you think?  Which do you prefer?

in Navy (but it actually looks purple)

I tried this on in an X-Small and it fit good.  The shirt is meant to be a little loose, but it's certainly not overwhelmingly big.  I grabbed this in a deep purple color and ended up really liking it.  It's very comfortable and casual, but can be dressed up with some fun jewelry too.  The back detail is very fun..it has a few buttons in the middle that pulls it in a bit, giving it some shape (of course I forgot to take a picture of that part...see product shot for that).  I decided to bring this top home with me the other night as it is great for all seasons with the sleeve length and honestly, I just didn't want to take it off!  I'm a fan!  It comes in a million colors...I could easily pick this up in a few of them!

Pink motif (size X-Small on left, Small on right)

This top was another good find the other night...I love the cute twist detailing on the chest and the overall look of the shirt itself.  I tried it on in both an X-Small and a Small, and to be honest, I left this one at the store because I couldn't decide which fit I liked better!  I like the longer length of the small, but felt the arms were a little baggy.  The X-Small fits pretty good but the sleeves are a little tighter.  UGH!  What's a girl to do?  I'll have to give this one another try-on and see what I'm feeling another time I suppose.  Overall though, I really liked this one and will be adding it to my closet at some point...wish listed!

in Red motif (only motif available)

This blouse was another winner in my book...it's soooo cute!  I have a serious thing for Peasant Blouses lately... I like them all!  I tried this on in a size 0 and the fit was perfect.  It definitely seems to run big.  I can think of so may ways to wear this cute blouse...the colors are awesome!  I'm gonna see how long I can wait until I give in and add this one to my closet....I'll be chanting "sale" loudly for a while probably!

So those were the best of my fitting room finds this time around at Anthro.  I did also pop into J Crew for a second to see if I could spot this lovely:

This skirt is calling my name!  It is GORGEOUS!  I love everything about it. I'm thinking it would make a cute Easter Sunday skirt, am I right??!!  I was able to find the skirt in my size to try on:

(Yes, that's me being too lazy to get all the way undressed to try the skirt on...whoops!  You get the idea).

I tried this on in my regular J Crew No 2 Pencil Skirt size, size 0, and the fit was spot on.  It was perfect! I am head over heels for this cute skirt and plan to add it to my closet, no question.  Just trying to hold out for a great promo or sale...crossing my fingers!

So did you do any shopping over the weekend?  Have you tried on any of the items I tried on above?  Do you own any of them?  What do you think?  To be honest, February hasn't been a big shopping month for me, which is great for my wallet!  I've picked up just a few things here and there, and have tried to focus more on remixing what's already in my closet.  It's been fun!  I like the challenge remixing brings!  March will probably be more of the same...not a ton of shopping except maybe when we are in Paris...I've already warned my husband that I reserve the right to pick out something fabulous.  How can I not?  It's PARIS!  =)

Hope you're having a great day!

  5. Love the Sveta and Panysfield Peasant Blouses. They are both so cute on you, definitely going to buy the Sveta Blouse. It has been cold here in Sacramento, your BFF was right...I was freezing yesterday @ 55degrees. Hope your weather gets warmer soon.

    1. LOVE both of those...I usually don't go for all the peasant blouse offerings, but there are just so many cute ones this season! And too funny about the temps there...I'm sure if it was me there last year I would have been freezing too! It's all relative!

  6. I like the green bird motif better than the red one. February has unfortunately been a doozy for me between the President's Day JCrew Factory sale, some great acquisitions from the Anthropologie sale section earlier this month, and an expensive pair of ski pants that went on sale (but were still atrociously exorbitant). I console myself that I am also weeding out still-loved but sadly underused items before we move house in the summer.

  10. I have the split stripes pullover in blue and I am IN LOVE with it! Just wore it on Sunday actually (with a Splendid mint baseball jacket from Nord's - can't find the link) and it was adorable. I really love the bird print too...maybe when they go on sale you can get both? HAHA! Also have the Panseyfield Peasant Blouse...didn't have the willpower to leave it behind as you did. Great reviews, thank you!

  11. Definitely prefer the green bird/wht navy stripe Pullover. I have a weakness for white/navy stripe bretons and then adding a mint bird print on top... I hope the EU website gets that one in stock!

  12. Love both the printed peasant blouses on you. I also really liked both striped tees. I ended up getting the navy/coral one last week. The twisted sundial tee is a no brainer as the color looks amazing on you and of course, the skirt is absolutely perfect for Easter. All in all you have lots of great picks. FYI-I saw the pansyfield blouse styled (tucked in) with a really cute black pencil skirt with shirring on both sides. Unfortunately I'm pregnant so pencil skirts are not in my immediate future, but I figure that some of these peasant blouses could work for now and later.
