Cozy Cashmere

It's Friday!  YAY!  I'm happy the weekend is here, but a little panicked all of a sudden.  I think it just hit me that we are going on vacation in like 4 days.  I have laundry to do, bags to pack, a few items to pick up, etc etc etc.  Amongst all that my oldest has a birthday party to attend tonight, I'm taking my boys to finally get their flu shots tomorrow (third time's the charm?  please?), I'm getting together with friends for a "pie night" tomorrow night, and right after that I'll be heading to the airport to pick up my husband who's been out of town the past 10 days for both a little getaway with a few of his brothers and a week long course for work.   I need a vacation, let me tell ya.  No rest for the weary around these parts lately!  I'm sure most can relate...it's all part of this time of year!

Yesterday all I felt like wearing was a comfy pair of jeans, a warm sweater and some boots.  I just wanted to be comfortable and warm.  When I went into my closet my eyes met with my favorite (and probably one of my only) cashmere sweater.  I love it for a few reasons.  First, the name.  It was called the "Happy Morning Sweater".  It doesn't get much more cheery than that!  Second, the colors. I've always loved this color combination...there's just something about yellow and grey together that I love.  And lastly, I got a ROCKIN' deal on this sweater.  I wanted it BAD when it came out on Anthropologie's website a few years back but could not swallow the $178 price tag.  No way, no how.  So I waited, and waited, and waited...and stalked it for a VERY long time.  Then when it finally hit 2nd cuts I decided I'd finally give in and get it.  Then it sold out of my size and I was out of luck.  I hate it when that happens!  Then a few months later it popped back and had since received a third cut...now to $19.99.  YES, PLEASE!  You better believe I jumped on that ASAP! And now it's all mine.

Do you have any big plans for the weekend?  Are you ready for the Thanksgiving week ahead?  Oh, and what are you planning on wearing on Thanksgiving day?  I had a reader email me about this very question so if I can fit it in before I leave, I'll put together some Thanksgiving/Black Friday shopping looks to give you a few ideas.

Have a great day!

  1. I really need to pull out that sweater and wear it more. It's so cute. Hang in there at least relief (i.e., hubby returning & vaca) is just around the corner. Hope you have a good weekend!

  2. I really enjoy your blog but I don't think I have ever commented. You have great style. I was looking at your boots and notice that you have very slim calves just like me. I have trouble finding boots that are not too large in the calves. I noticed the ones you are wearing have alot of room, but they look GREAT!!! I think I am going to stop worrying about my boots being roomy in the calves and wear them anyway.

    1. Hi Rachel! Thanks for stopping by! So yes, I feel your pain on the small calves issue. My calves are about 13.5 inches around so most boots are much too big around them. These boots pictured above are from Target about 2-3 years ago. I bought them before I really started being picky about the calve size of the boots I purchased. I love the color of them and they are a little big but not so big that I can't deal. Would I drop $150 on a pair this big around my calves now? No way. These were $50 at Target so they were on the cheaper side for boots. I have found Miz Mooz and DV by Dolce Vita boots to fit the best around my smaller calves. I would totally recommend buying boots to fit your calves rather than just buying anything. That being said, am I going to throw out these Target boots because they are a tad too big around? Nope! I already own them so I'm going to make them work for now. In a year or two I'll replace them with something that fits a little better probably. Another idea to take up room in a boot that's a little big around is to wear boot socks or cuffs...adds a little something extra. Hope that helps!
