On the hunt for a denim jacket...oh yes I am

I almost can't believe I'm admitting this, but I want a denim jacket!  My former self would be dying a little inside upon hearing that comment.  I've been thinking about it for a few months now, and I've come to the conclusion that I need one in my wardrobe. It would be the perfect thing to throw on over so many different looks and it gives a slightly different look than a cardigan would.  Throw me right back to the 80's folks, I'm going there.  This is as far as I go though...no overalls or jumpers...I still shun the thought.  So here are a few denim jackets I've got my eye on as of now:

Nordstrom

This is a great color, good length, and good middle of the road price point.

American Eagle

LOVE this dark denim color and it looks like the perfect length as well.  At the lowest price point without sacrificing quality (reviews are great!), this may be the way to go.  Wait for a coupon or sale and it could be a real bargain!

Anthropologie

This one looks soft and comfy. I am really drawn to the darker, almost slate denim.

Gap

Cute, more of a classic wash, but it's sold out of my size online so I'd have to go hunting.

What do you think?  Which is your favorite?  Do you own a denim jacket?  Or are you like my former self and still against the idea?  Let's hear it!

Happy Monday!

  1. I bought a denim jacket last year at a thrift store and wear it all the time in the spring and fall. It's perfect for those cool mornings and I love how it makes outfits a little more put together, especially love it with colored jeans.

  2. Too funny. I came across a motorcycle style denim jacket from the Gap that I picked up a few years ago hanging in my closet this weekend. You've inspired me to take it out and see how it looks. I do happen to like the denim jacket look with colored denim jeans. Seems like an easy go to piece to throw on when it's chilly outside. My top pics are the AE or Gap one if you can track one down in a store.

  5. I settled for the Gap jacket because it was a bargain when I got it. I also reviewed the Madewell and the Anthro Inner Art on my blog. These 2 were may favourites but price won in the end.

  6. My favorite by far is the cozier denim jacket from Anthro. By the way, I got the booties from Nordstoms in the mail but sent them back. They are fine I guess for the price but little bit cheap looking and I don't like all the buckles. Now I have my eye on one from Sundance and JCrew's bootie. We'll see...

  7. I personally like the AE version, seems more fitted in the bodice, which would be more flattering since you're so slender.

  8. I still have nightmares about living through the 80's with some seriously heinous denim jackets walking about. I can't help it: I'm scarred. But, if I weren't scarred, and was in the market, I'd go for Anthro's.

  9. Hi Jenni, I think GAP has some great options. I have owned one from LOFT for about 4 yrs and I love it. I wear it all the time and it's usually my go to piece when it's slightly chilly outside. Whatever you decided you will get a lot of use from a denim jacket. Are you settling in well in Ohio? I miss the midwest but I love it here.

    1. Thanks for the input Molly! We are really liking it here in Ohio so far. The people here have been great to us and we have felt very welcomed. Thanks for asking! =)

  10. I have the American Eagle one and I love it - I bought it and returned it last year (figuring I wasn't really going to wear a denim jacket that much)...then I started seeing it EVERYWHERE! Anytime I liked a denim jacket, I would see it was from AE LOL...of course by then they were out of stock at my store...as soon as they were back in stock, I grabbed one - didn't risk waiting for a sale...I figure I can always wear it with maxi dresses so it'll never go out of style :-)

The AE jacket is perfect - it is just the right amount of cropped and it hangs nicely, even when it's unbuttoned.

  11. I meant to say I bought it and changed my mind and returned it LOL - I didn't wear it and then return it:
