Fitting Room reviews: The Limited

When it comes to clothes shopping I tend to stick to a certain group of stores for the bulk of the items in my closet.  That being said, I'm never opposed to trying out some place new.  Within the past week I saw bloggers Tara and Veronika both post about the cutest striped shirt from The Limited and I became intrigued.  I've only ever purchased one thing from The Limited and it was about 4 years ago while I was on a vacation.  I haven't stepped back into a store since.  I didn't have a bad experience or anything, I just haven't been drawn to their clothing.  Until now!  I found out there was a store nearby so I stopped by the other day while I was out running errands to give the shirt a try.  I ended up loving it, as well as a few other items.  What made my visit to the store even more fun was that I was handed a 40% off the entire store coupon when I walked in...score!

Here's a few reviews of what I found:

LOVE!!!  I tried this on in an X-Small and it was a great fit.  The shirt is a little sheer but I think you could get away with not having to wear a cami underneath.  I'll have to try it on in the light at home to be sure.  I love the fact that it looks good both un-tucked and tucked in as pictured above...makes it even more versatile.  The material isn't my all time favorite, but it does fall nicely, which I appreciate.  This is an A+ piece in my opinion...a great staple piece for fall and winter as it can be paired with almost anything.  I've been playing with it on Polyvore and have paired it with jeans, colored jeans, skirts...its a great neutral piece.  I highly recommend this!   You will be seeing it in some OOTD pics in the future as it's now hanging in my closet!

When I walked into the store I was greeted by a sales assistant (SA) that was wearing this cute top and it immediately caught my eye.  I knew I wanted to try it on.  I tried it in an X-Small and it was a good fit.  It does have a bit of a boxy fit, but it's not too overwhelming.  I loved that the sparkly part of the shirt wasn't sequins, but a metallic crackle type material.  It's very pretty and gives it an interesting and unique look.  It makes it look a little more expensive than sequins. The shirt itself is a very pretty tannish/light pink color...I heard it referred to as "Barely pink" in the store.  It is pretty sheer so a cami underneath is required.  The SA handed me the light brown riding cardigan you see pictured above to try with it which is a combination I would not have grabbed myself.  In fact I even told her I probably wouldn't like it because I don't typically go for light brown anything.  But guess what...I really liked it!  It's an unlikely pairing of colors for me, for sure.  Throw on some riding boots and I would have been ready to go!  I took the cardigan in an X-Small.  Both items came home with me.  I ended up wearing this top last night to a dinner I had to attend and wore it with dark denim skinny jeans, heels and a statement necklace.  I loved how it turned out (pictures to come!!!)  It's a great top on it's own, but can be layered to add interest as well.  This is another piece I would highly recommend!

(in navy)

I tried this cute sweater on in an X-Small and it was a great fit.  I don't typically like these types of color block sweaters on me from places like J Crew because they always seem too short on my long torso and I spend the whole day pulling it down.  This sweater, however, was a great length.  It was not overly long, but was about an inch or two longer than I'm used to seeing,so that was a pleasant surprise.  The thing that sold me on this sweater was the cute button detailing down the one side. It just gives it a little something extra special.  It comes in two colors, but I chose the navy because it has that burgundy color mixed in which is a huge on-trend color for fall.  Sold!  I also brought this home with me.

So that's what I found on my little trip to The Limited.  I went in for one top and came home with a few more than that.  How does that always seem to happen?  =)  With the 40% coupon in hand I couldn't pass.  The price points were fantastic.

Do you own any of these items?  Have you tried any of them?  What do you think??  Chime in!

  1. I adore that striped shirt, but I have a bias for the split-v collar so I passed. But I bet it'll make a cool layering piece when it gets cooler too!

    1. The prices were fantastic with everything being 40% off. The quality isn't totally top notch, but it's much better than say F21 or H&M. Well worth a look!

  4. You've found some great pieces - I really like them - and what a great deal too! On a side note, don't you love it when the SA has amazing taste and gives you items to try on that you'd never pick out yourself? The sequin top is my favorite purchase - I want one :-)

  7. I walked into the Limited for the first time in a long this week and they have great stuff! Not sure why I don't go in there more often. I didn't see that striped shirt so I will have to go back. I got the sequin top, the pintuck bow blow with the polka dots and one other top.

  8. The Limited has been and still is My Number One Favorite store, It's my-go-to store like Anthropologie is for you. Their prices are not cheap but for the quality they are good and they always have great sales, deals and coupons. Rarely a day goes by, when I don't have something from them on. You should check out my blog more often.

Also, I have followed you for a long while now and I started reading from the beggining and left you many nice comments along the way. Please follow me back if you can. I am newer to blogging and the best part about it besides the fashion is meeting new bloggers and all of us supporting, suggesting ideas, complimentinf and advising one-another. Thanks, I do appreciate it.

    Enjoy your weekend, Ada. =)

  10. I too love many items from The Limited. I have been a little hesitant to buy from them because I am not sure about the value (price and quality ratio). I am more than willing to pay a little more for quality (well made, good fit, long lasting), but their prices seem a little high. Can you tell me anything on the quality of the clothes? Have they survived for a reasonable time? Does the fit stay regularly the same?
