A few Anthro reviews and some fun finds...

Happy Thursday everyone!  What's on your agenda today?  For me it's a big round of organizing!  Organizing the toys in the basement today, to be exact.  I've put it off long enough.  Hubby is home today so he'll be pitching in around the house to get some things done.  It's a never-ending battle, this unpacking/organizing stuff, I tell ya!

It's been a while since I've shared some of the things I have my eye on so I thought I'd do a fun finds post today...with a few reviews thrown in.  I'd love to hear any opinions you have on any of the items I mention!

First up I thought I'd share a top I picked up last week at ModCloth.  I rarely shop at ModCloth but like to keep my eye on their offerings from time to time.  I spotted this gorgeous shirt the week it was released and just couldn't pass it up:

This top came in multiple colors, but this gorgeous green color won over all the rest.  I love that it can be dressed up or down.  I ordered this in a small so we'll see how it fits.  It's sheer so I plan to wear a top underneath.  I'm hoping it arrives in the next few days.  Here's how I plan to wear it casually:

Pam Breeze-ly Tunic/ Gap Perfect Boot Jeans/Seychelles Hot and Bothered Wedges

And then a little more dressy:

Pam Breeze-ly Tunic and No 2 Pencil Skirt in Garden Floral

A few days ago we ventured over to our closest outlet mall where we have the biggest J Crew Factory store I have ever seen!  It's like walking into a giant Old Navy or something!  It was fun to look around and see the cute new fall items coming out.  While there I spotted this cute top that I decided to add to my closet after trying on:

I've kind of wanted a denim shirt for a while now but just hadn't taken the plunge.  I liked this particular one because it was so lightweight and easily tucks into both skirts and pants (I'm thinking half-tuck like above).  Most denim shirts are made out of heavier material and don't flow well, so this was a great option.  It's a bit outside my box of the type of tops I normally wear, but I thought I'd give it a go anyways.  Why not?!  This is the first way I plan to wear it:

This week also brought a seriously strange sale at Anthro...it was like someone took a dart to the catalog and decided to put whatever they hit, on sale.  I won't complain though, because the Given Then Gathered Column Dress that I've been waiting to go on sale for a while now finally indeed went on sale!

I decided to go with the striped version as opposed to a solid color as I thought it would be a little more versatile to mix and match with cardigans and belts.  I tried it on in the Scottsdale Anthropologie when we were there last month and fell in love with it:

Just add a belt and some heels and I'm good to go!

Along with the dress I spied these cute shoes back in stock on my wish list so I threw them in my order as well:

I regretted not getting them after they sold out a few months back so I was thrilled to see them back again.  They are fully stocked in all sizes again, if you're interested!  I ordered a size 8 1/2 based on the reviews so we'll see how they fit.  Crossing my fingers!

Just for good measure I'll throw in two more items I tried on in Scottsdale and loved...I'm anxiously awaiting both to hit sale but no luck yet...they're still too new.

Here's how it looked on:

At first I couldn't decide if it was totally cute or straight out of grandma's closet, but in the end I think I decided it's cute.  My husband would disagree.  I showed it to him on the rack and he laughed.  It's cuter on I think.  I'll show him. =)  I tried this on in an XS and it's the way to go.  It's  made to be large in the neck, so be aware.  I think I would maybe wear something underneath just to keep my shoulders covered in case it drapes down too much.  I loved the bright colors...so pretty.  Its asymmetric so it's oddly shaped, but I think it works.  Some asymmetric tops simply don't work for me but this one is a go.

Loved it when I saw it online and really liked it on:

I tried this on in an X-Small and a Small and the Small was a better fit (I'm wearing a Small in the picture).  The X-Small was a little too tight all over for my liking.  If you are blessed up top I would definitely say to size up.  I'm not, and I needed to anyways!  I loved the colors of this top...it gives it ample opportunity for mixing and matching with cardigans and jewelry.  I would wear this top with a cardigan as the sleeves are pretty short on me.  Overall a really cute top.  Hurry to sale please!!!

So I finally got around to looking through the Nordstrom Anniversary sale online and I think I'm going to pass this time around.  There wasn't anything I was dying for and any black riding boots that were on sale were either still too $$$ or too wide in the circumference for my chicken legs.  Sad.  I did find a pair of shoes I'm totally in love with for the summer to fall transition, however.  Of course they're not on sale so I'm gonna wait it out for a bit and see if they'll hit a promo or sale anywhere before I grab them.  Check out these totally adorable shoes:

(funny name...)

Seychelles are one of my favorite shoe brands and every pair I own are super comfortable so I'd hope these would be right there with the rest.  They come in black, red and this clay color.  I'd go with clay, pictured here.  I see these being perfectly paired with ankle denim for fall.  Can't wait to try these on!!!

So what have you found lately that you're loving?  Do you own anything I've mentioned above?  Do share!!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

  2. Looks like you have some beautiful clothing headed your way! :) I caved on the dress as well and was so unsure about which color I liked that I ordered 3 and will narrow it down at home. The assymetric shirt is at the top of my wishlist as well- I was so surprised by how much better it looks on, as opposed to the hanger. Good luck with organizing!

    1. When in doubt get them all and return...my kind of thinking! =) I'm curious to know which dress you choose! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought the top looked better on than on the hanger...SO much better right?!!

    1. Hi Brittany! I actually snapped a few pictures of my closet the other day so if I ever get them uploaded I'll share! =) The jeans I am wearing in the reviews are a pair I grabbed on the Anthro floor...I wore a dress into the store that day so I needed a pair of pants to wear in the pictures! They are a pair of Level 99 LILY Skinny Straight jeans. I took a picture of the tags and the style number is not matching up with any style numbers I'm seeing online so I'm not sure if they are online right now. The style number on the tag was: 25084658. They are WAY TOO LONG on me so I turned them up to make them look like they were right at the bottom of my ankles. I am wearing them in a size 26..they were a good fit. Hope that helps!

    1. Totally agree...I was in love with the lightweight factor. Dressy enough to tuck into a skirt yet casual enough to pair with denim. Perfect!

  5. Ditto what Lisa said! Loving those shoes so much - and I agree, adorbs with ankle denim! I love that floral top too and my husband would hate. He thinks anything with flowers is granny. There is a fine line between granny and Anthro!! haha

  7. A warehouse-sized jcrew outlet? I'd be in there for a week at least :-)

Love the modcloth shirt - I'm very drawn to that shade of green right now and love how you styled it with the jeans - an easy and glam outfit - just what this mom needs ;-P

    1. You will love these dresses...they are so fun! I'm still so sad I don't get to see you when you're here in the states...boo! Seriously, Thanksgiving 2013...I'm all over that!

  10. Love the Parted Rays blouse and has a "boob" girl, I did have to size up for the shirt not to look crazy. A little too much of the girls were highlighted in my regular size.

Amy, I have the navy dress and absolutely love it. I also ordered the striped version to add to my closet.

    1. I knew the second I put it on anyone with anything up top would need to go up..it was unusually tighter up there! IT's super cute on though!!

  11. Okay, love those shoes. I actually like both tops and they both seem to offer lots of styling options. I got the dress (striped version) about a month ago. I'm surprised that it went on sale so soon. You just never know. Please post an update about the green tunic. I'm really liking that too but want to get your thoughts on it once it arrives. Thx!

    1. I was surprised to see the dress hit sale already too, to be honest, but no complaints here!! I'll let you know how I like the tunic when it comes...I'm not expecting it to be stellar fabric, but hopefully substantial enough to pull off looking cute!

  12. I love the stripey dress - I hadn't considered it but have just ordered it for myself after seeing it on you. Looks great! I also want the jcrew shirt - haha. With no stores near my place it's great to see and hear reviews... I don't often order from anthro (because I detest paying shipping fees!!) but taking a chance on that dress... the color combo is fab! Thanks for the reviews - keep 'em coming!!

  13. You will LOVE those Mixed Media Heels. They are awesome. As for me, I added the polka dot perfect fit denim shirt from J.Crew and it's become quite a workhorse for me. Love. Hope the green shirt works- why oh why does Modcloth always cheap out and do them sheer?! It's such a great color though. Hope the house unpacking is going smooth!

  14. The Given & Gathered Dress is killer on you - so glad you grabbed one during the promo! And I own the Parted Rays top, but never thought to pair it with purple, I REALLY like it with that color cardi you tried it on with! And that other floral tee you tried on is even prettier in person, I like that the colors seem more saturated then the product shot - I vote two thumbs up and NOT granny - the cut is super modern and cute!

  15. I got the Given & Gathered Dress also (both stripes and green). I haven't put them up on my blog yet, but I did blog about others. Love that purple cardi with it! Thanks for the idea.
