My new favorite find...and an OOTD!

Hi everyone!  I'm back from our trip back east and let me tell you, it was a whirlwind trip!  We went, we house hunted, we ate out (A LOT), we slept in past 10am one morning, we saw Snow White and the Huntsman (pretty good!!), we house hunted some more, we counter-offered 7 times, we waited to hear back, we waited some more, and then finally, we bought a house!  So excited to call this home in just over a month:

I'm officially in love.

I can't wait to get in there and make it ours.  It is already beautifully painted and taken care of inside so all I need to do is decorate and buy some new furniture.  Easy enough, right?  Hmmm...we'll see.  I feel pretty confident I can put outfits together, and you would think that would translate to home design and decor, but sadly, for me it doesn't.  I'm more of a "find a page in the Pottery Barn catalog I like and copy it" kinda girl.  I have no talent in home decor.  Thinking I may have to try to get better...just added home decor and design to my hobby list.  Who would have guessed?!  Help a girl out...where do you draw home design and decor inspiration from?

Back to what I feel a little more confident in...here's an outfit I wore when I went shopping at Anthro a few weeks ago..

What I Wore
Loulie Tank-J Crew
Sequin Cardigan-Loft
Toothpick Ankle Denim-J Crew Factory
Seychelles "Purr" Wedge Sandals
Colorblocked Strands Necklace-Anthropologie
Bardot Spiral Bracelet-Stella & Dot
Bardot Earrings-Stella & Dot
Candy Bowl Ring-Banana Republic

This was one of the first more "expensive" cardigans I ever bought.  I was so excited to get it...I stalked it for months!   I loved it then and I love it now.  It's a fun little bit of sparkle to add to an outfit.

Stay tuned...I finished editing all my Anthro review pictures over the weekend while we were waiting for delayed airplanes.  Hoping to get the reviews up this week sometime!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

  3. What a beautiful home! Very stately :)

I always feel like I have to dress a little extra special when I make a shopping trip to Anthro. Also, one of my favorite color combinations: Coral and navy!

  4. Congrats on the new home! I'm sure that you feel relieved to have a new home to move to very soon. As for home decor inspiration, I too relied on Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Thomasville for inspiration. We ended up getting most of our things from Thomasville and RH a few years ago when we moved to our new home. I have no doubt that your new place will be fabulous. You have a great sense of style.

  6. Your Ohio home is beautiful - I love how traditional it is! So happy that you found a new place and were able to seal the deal - that is exciting! I am a PB junkie - no better inspiration IMO! I also like the Ballard Designs catalog. Your shopping trip outfit is super cute, I love those coral jeans - I need to get myself to an outlet, stat.

  10. SO Stoked for you! It's a beautiful house that I am sure would be in the MILLIONS here in CA! LOVE IT! Pinterst is a great place for inspiration, but KIRKLANDS has lots of pretty inexpensive stuff (One just opened in Vacaville in the Nut Tree). Pottery Barn is awesome as well as Ballard Designs. I LOVE decorating the house so have fun with it!

  13. Woohoo! Congrats to you! What a gorgeous house. 7 times?!? Good grief. nail biter. I honestly look at home decor choices, putting a room together, the same as how I put outfits together...obviously on a larger scale. I bet you're better at it than you think, since you obviously have serious stylin' skillzzz! Glad the trip went well.

  14. Love your new house!!! You will rock at decorating it. I use Pinterest and Houzz, both the apps and websites. I also use my favorite stores, West Elm, DWR, PBK for the kids or Land of Nod, Crate & Barrel, and Anthro, as inspiration. But I agree with Molly, use your favorite outfit combos as your inspiration in your rooms. Nothing is off limits, be creative and think outside the box and get items that you love even if they are mainstream. Find your style and everything else will come together.

I love to read design blogs. One of my favorite is Centsational Girl. She is fabulous (and has been on the Nate Berkus show and has a column with BHG). I also love a blog called House of Turquoise. I am building a home right now and got tons of inspiration from Houzz as well. Can't wait to see some updates :)
