Summer Skirt

Happy Tuesday!

Week 2 of July is already upon us.  How'd that happen?  I was walking through Target today and guess what I spotted...the Back to School section starting to be stacked on shelves!  Say it isn't so!  I don't even want to think about it.  I refuse.  We are happily enjoying our summer break and have lots to look forward to still.  In just a few weeks my BFF and her family are coming to stay with us for a few days which promises to be a fun-filled, treat-filled, shopping-filled kind of week...the best kind there is.   If that wasn't enough excitement, the day after they leave I'm headed to Utah for a college roommate reunion!  I can't even stand how excited I am. I cringe to think at how long ago it was that we all lived together but I know the second we all get back together in the same room it will be like old times...back to our crazy selves!  So seriously, school supply section at Target, mind your own business...I'm not ready to see you yet!  There is still lots of fun to be had!

So one of the biggest trends this summer are skirts...maxi skirts to be exact.  Have you jumped on the bandwagon?  If not, you totally should.  You're missing out.  I promise you'll be happy you did.  Why?  Because they're basically like wearing pajamas without looking like you're wearing pajamas.  They're so comfy!  Especially the one I decided upon:

Honey & Lace Black on White Medium Stripe Skirt

My friend recommended this particular skirt to me and I'm loving it!  The company, Honey & Lace, has a lot of cute skirts to choose from, and based on my experience with this one, I'd say you should go give them a shot!  They're super inexpensive and good quality.  They're a decent thickness (I still wear a slip), plenty long, and like I've already mentioned, so comfortable!  The material is also very soft, which I love.  I decided to wear it recently on a day I had tons of running around to do (swim practices, errand running, swim meet) and by the end of the day it had held up great.  No slipping down, no running of threads in the material...just perfect.  Here's how I styled it:

Inspiration for my look came from my friend Stephanie's Polyvore set HERE

Raw-Edge V-Neck Tee-Anthropologie
Black on White Medium Stripe Skirt-Honey & Lace
Lavada Slide Sandals-Target
Candy Cluster Pendant Necklace-Anthropologie
Bracelets-Tiffany
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Henry Chrono" Watch-Piperlime
Elench Dollop Hoops-Anthropologie
Fireworks Ring-Banana Republic

Total throw-back to the 80's with the corner-knotted tee right?  I already went neon...might as well throw in the knot too. =)

Are you a maxi skirt kinda girl??  Wanna be?  Go for it!

Hope you have a great day!!!

  8. Such a darling maxi... and not to mention versatile! I had loaned all my maxi dresses to my sister to get through her pregnancy... I'm hoping they are still wearable this summer. Maybe an excuse to pick up a new one. ;)
