Date Night!

Last night was date night around here. We have been so fortunate to be able to make great friends here in CA since we've lived here. Some have already come and gone (such is the life of a military family) and some will soon be on their way to new places and adventures. It's one of the hard things about being in the military...saying goodbye. One of the couples we went out with last night was in town visiting from Japan, one of the couples will be moving this week to another base in Japan, and another couple and their family will be on their way to UT in July after they separate from the military. That leaves us and one other couple left from our group last night. I have other friends here besides these ladies, but they have been my core group of girls for the past few years. They are the girls I shop with, commiserate with, have girls nights with...they are "the girls". We've had a lot of fun over the years, needless to say. Lots of good eats, lots of chick flicks, lots of dressing room laughter, lots of Black Friday 15 hour events...and most importantly, lots of love. I don't have sisters so I've always made a point to try to make good girlfriends wherever I've lived...it keeps me sane. I am one lucky girl to have these ladies in my life and look forward to many "Girls Weekends" in the future. If you happened to be at our local PF Chang's last night you would have laughed to see our table...guys on one side and ladies on the other. That's how we roll on group date night. After dinner we moved the party on over to the Gelato shop across the street. Sweet way to end the evening. =)

Here's what I wore last night on our date night:

Details:
-Spotted Satin Ruffle Tank-Forever 21 (Sold out online)
-Hiking Ruffles Cardigan-Anthropologie
-Always Skinny Jeans-Gap
-Slinking Frills Pumps-Anthropologie
-Earrings/Necklace-Old Navy
-Ring-Forever 21

I have to thank Tricia for pointing out this cute tank...as soon as I saw it on her blog I hoped I could find one at my local store...and I did!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow...a full day of shopping ahead! I'm headed back into the city with "the girls" (minus one)...one last shopping hoorah before our two Japan girls head overseas. Even though it'll be a day full of fun and laughter no doubt, I want to take a second to say how appreciative I am of all the military men and women who have given their time, talents, and even some, their lives, for our country's freedoms. On this, Memorial day, take a moment to remember.

Happy Start of the Long Weekend!

All day I've been thinking it's Saturday...lucky for me it's only Friday! Gotta love a 4 day weekend, for sure. We've had a good day so far. It started out a little chilly so I dragged out the boots again. Really folks, it's almost June and I'm wearing boots. Ridiculous. Here's a look at the whole outfit:

And in real life:

Details:
-Rise and Fall Cardigan-Anthropologie
-Finessed Turtleneck-Anthropologie
-Ultimate Skinny Jeans-Banana Republic
-Dollhouse Boots-Endless
-Earrings-Banana Republic
-Rock Candy Bracelet-Anthropologie
-Ring-Forever 21

I received my Anthro order from the sale this week, today in the mail. I opened up the Retro Rose cardigan and am wavering about it.

On one hand I think it's really pretty. I think the colors are what I love the most. On the other hand it has long sleeves (it is almost summer) and kind of reminds me of an old grandma-ish print (but somehow I still like it). I'm confused about this purchase. I guess I'll try it on with a few things tonight to see what I think. Have you ordered this cardigan? Seen it in person? What do you think? Part of me really thinks it's cute but part of me is just not sure. I'd love your input. I'm trying to only buy/keep things I really LOVE so if I'm not wowed tonight by it I might be returning it.

Alright, off to figure out what's for dinner. Hope you have a great night!

Polka Dot Love

First up, have you been having problems with blogger? I could not post any comments on people's blogs (not even my own) for the past few days. I got annoyed and googled the issue and learned that if I re-signed into google and UN-checked the box that says 'Keep me signed in" the problem would go away. And what do ya know...it worked! If you're having problems still, give it a try!

It's Thursday!!! Today is our Friday as my son has no school tomorrow and it's a base-down day which means hubby has no work...woo hoo! He's still on call (BOO) so we can't go far but at least it's not a full day of work. I plan on sleeping in a little, enjoying a run around 9am (instead of 6:30am) and hanging out with my favorite people all day long. Maybe we'll even brave a movie!! We'll see.

Apparently I've had polka dots on the brain the past few days...I totally wore them two days in a row and didn't even realize it until I uploaded these pictures this morning. All well. Can't go too wrong with polka dots, right!

So do you have any big plans for the holiday weekend? We have a big group date planned on Saturday night with 4 other couples. We're headed to PF Changs for dinner and then stopping by our favorite gelato spot for dessert...can't wait! Then on Monday I'm headed back to the city with some girlfriends to go shopping (again, I know)! One of our friends will be in town visiting from Japan so she wanted to hit up all the big stores before heading back over the Pacific. I'll be doing a few returns on Monday as I've decided against some of the things I got last weekend when I was there, and I have some returns to make at Anthro as well. I'm wondering if there will be a sale next week at Anthro due to it being the holiday weekend, or if the tag sale was it for a few weeks? It's always a guessing game with Anthropologie...you never know what they're gonna do!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Parade of OOTD pictures

Happy Sale day everyone! Week 2 of the tag sale was a little more exciting in the clothing department I thought as few things from my wish list hit sale! I picked up the Retro Rose cardigan (already sold out online) and the Linear Landscape Maxi (I'm hoping the size Small is a good fit). I think I've decided to get the First Light Skirt as well. I was so excited to find out that I won Liz's giveaway yesterday that included a $25 Anthro gift card so once I receive that I'll be putting it towards the skirt to knock down the price a little more. Thanks Liz!! So did you end up getting anything from the sale? Was this a better sale week in your eyes than last week? By the way, who would have known there was gonna be a week 2 of the tag sale?? I picked up a few things last week as well but a lot of the stuff I got is going back because I just didn't love it or it didn't fit right (the saddest return will be the Dearie Me Wedges that were too big around my chicken ankles...BOOO!!!).

So I'm a little behind in sharing my latest OOTD pictures...I have a few to share with you today to get caught up. Off we go...

Yesterday I stayed in my gym clothes all day after working out so no picture to show for that....I thought I'd spare you. =)

So did you watch the Bachelorette last night? Holy wack-a-doodle group of guys! Let's see...there was the masked dude, the drunk guy, the guy that threw his guitar in the pool after admitting he didn't really know how to play it (PS--guitars aren't cheap, buddy). There were a few keepers in the group for her too I think though so we'll see how it all goes. The promo for the rest of the season was drama-filled of course...sucks me in every time! I'm looking forward to the season finale of Glee tonight...I love that show. Seriously, I hope they come out with some good summer TV because now that all my shows are ending for the season I don't know what I'm going to do with myself every night!

Alright, I'm off to get kid #1 going on homework...less than a month left of school...yay! I'm so ready for summer vacation!

Have a great day!

Anthro Fitting Room Reviews (May)-part 2

Hi everyone! I had a busy, but really good weekend...how about you? I've got a few outfits to share with you from the past few days but I'll hold off on those till next time...today I wanted to get the second half of my Anthro fitting room reviews up from last week.

Here ya go:

Cinchona Cardigan-NOW on sale for $29.95 (2nd cuts) and Squeezebox Top-$48 (coral motif)

I have passed by this top on a few visits to the store but this time decided to grab it on my way to the fitting room. This coral color really stood out to me and I had high hopes it would be a winner. I was so excited when I got it on and loved it! I tried it in both an X-Small and a Small and the Small was the obvious choice. The X-Small was far too tight on me. I paired it with the Cinchona cardigan that has been on my wish list for a while now (I originally tried it on in Las Vegas a few months back). When it hit first cut I hesitated to buy it because it was still $60, I felt like the sleeves were borderline too long and because spring/summer was approaching so I preferred to get clothes I could wear now. Fast forward to last week when this sweater hit 2nd cut and I'm singing a different tune! Both of these cute pieces came home with me and I have no regrets whatsoever about either.

Annabel Lee Tank-$88 (Blue Motif) and Bette Cardigan (reviewed in previous post)

This tank comes in two different colors (the other is called "Grey" even though it's really charcoal and cream) but I chose to try this one because I was going for some color. Once I got the tank on, I felt like I belonged in a southwestern painting...how did I not see that before? I don't love the yoke top on me either as I feel it cuts me off a bit on top. My friend also tried this on and felt the same way if I can remember correctly. I much prefer the grey motif after trying this top on, but that too will be a pass for me regardless.

Summer Tartan Tank-$68 (Green motif) and Anadyomene Cardigan-$88

I saw this top on a mannequin at the store paired with the Bette cardigan in grey. I loved the whole look, but I simply cannot pull off a light grey...it makes my fair skin look pasty, big time. Not super attractive, not even a little. So I found this cute cardigan laying on a table and grabbed it in a Small to try with it. The Small was a good fit...I don't think I could have sized down because the arms were a bit of a tighter fit. I think both pieces are pretty cute but not sure it's love for either. I will say the tank is a bit boxy...BUT, I only tried it on in a size Small because they didn't have an X-Small. Sizing down may have helped out with this a bunch. The sweater is actually really cute but I'm not sure I love where the scalloped design falls on me. I would not buy either at full price but may consider both for the right price. These will both be sitting still on my wish list until sale time for reconsideration.

Pleated Yoke Tee-$48 (Pink Motif)

I have been dying to try this top on as it has been at the top of my wish list ever since it hit the website. I loved it! So I eagerly put this on in the fitting room fully prepared to NEED it and was so sad when I found that just like the A-Bit-Unruly Top, it just didn't fit me right. From the front it looks fine and I really love all the ruching and draping, but from the side it's a different story. Both arm holes, which are uneven in size (on purpose) by the way, were way too big for me. You could see right in. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I was seriously bummed. I was very sad to hand this one back to the fitting room attendant (who by the way was the nicest lady ever, especially because she told me how good my children had been the whole time we were in there--don't hear that too often...seriously, love her). I think layering this under a cardi would ruin the whole look of the top (cover it up too much) so this is a pass unless I can come up with a way to fix the arm hole problem (a tank won't fix it for me).

Languid V-Neck-$68 (Red Motif)

This top caught my eye because I really like the pretty colors and the print. I tried this on in a size Small (they were out of X-Smalls) and found the fit to be off for me. It's definitely meant to be blousey, but the way the sleeves are attached to the shirt (at the underarm area) was not super flattering on me I thought. I don't know how much difference the X-Small would be in that area but it would have to be considerable for me to want to make this mine). The top is also a bit see-through and would probably require an undershirt. Too many cons and not enough pros, so this one is a pass.

Inherited Blooms Top-$118

This is a pretty sheer top in a color palette I don't typically gravitate towards (light grey background), but in the end it kind of grew on me. I tried this on in a size 0 and it fit fine. It definitely runs a bit big. You would have to wear an undershirt or tank underneath because of how sheer this is. I love the cute little detailing on the sleeves (with the ties and ruching) and I think this would be cute paired with jeans or tucked into a skirt. This one is wish listed for sale time.

Readymade Dress-$118

How cute is this cute ensemble dress!?! I was immediately attracted to it when I saw it online and I liked it just as much in person. I tried this on in a size 2 and it fit well. When I put it on I felt like it was a little short on me (not quite hitting the top of my knee) but when I looked online later to see how long it was suppose to be, it said 41" which should totally be long enough for me! I'm confused. I love the color, the fabric, the feel of it...the only thing I'm not crazy about is the price. I would like to try another one on again to see if it's any longer (you know how they sometimes come in different lengths even when they're all suppose to be the same). I also forgot to look at the hem...maybe I could take the hem down a bit?? For now this is maybe wish listed for sale time.

Pulling it Together Sweater-$68 (Turquoise motif) and Quiet Approach Skirt-ON SALE for $39.95 (shown with the Squeezebox Top that I reviewed above)

My girlfriend found this skirt for me deep in the sale racks in a size 0. I had never even noticed this skirt online before...where have I been? I tried it on and loved it! The skirt falls at the VERY top of my knee (wish it had an extra inch) but after mulling over it a bit I decided it was long enough. The size 0 fit fine, but I'm half-tempted to track down a 2 to see if it would be any longer. The one thing people complained about in the online reviews was the poofiness of the skirt. Although it is a little poofy, I didn't find it to be too much. I think it adds a little character! Most people said they sized down to reduce the amount of poofiness so maybe I should just stick to the size 0. I ended up bringing this skirt home with me...it really will be a great summer skirt! I tried this cardigan in a size X-Small or Small...I can't remember and apparently forgot to take a picture of the tag (for shame). Whatever it was it fit really good and I loved it! It comes in four colors and out of the four my favorites were this turquoise, the dark orange and the pink (which looks magenta). The yellow didn't excite me as much. It's a very cute layering piece and I've wish listed it for sale time (not sure which color...I like almost all!)

Winner's Circle Tee-$48 (tried on the new Purple motif and the Orange motif)

So this is officially like the fourth time I'm trying this top on...I know, I know, buy one already! =) My friend pointed out the new colors so I grabbed them up and tried them on. We both found a funny thing about these new colors...they run bigger in size than the original release colors! I took a small in the pink and yellow motifs previously, but in the purple and orange I fit much better in the X-Small. Weird! I happen to adore these cute colors...I go back and forth about which I prefer more! One or more of these tops will be mine when they hit sale...they're perfect summer tops!

Sunless Rose Top-$78

On the rack this top is really, really cute...I liked especially the cute bow detailing on the back. Once I put it on however, not so cute. I tried on the X-Small and it was all sorts of craziness and ill-fitted. The bottom half of the shirt is fine, but the top half just didn't work for me. The back dropped down WAY too low as well. Maybe it was the weight of the cute bow on the back but it was way too low. This one is an easy pass for me.

Huipil Tank-$78

We'll end on a high note...this cute tank is a winner! I love the bold print and the unique shape of the neckline. I tried this on in a medium because that was the smallest they had in the store so I would definitely need to size down a bit because I pulled a lot of fabric back out of the way to make it look more fitted for the picture. I could probably go with an X-Small in this as the length seems to be plenty long. I will definitely be waiting for this one to hit sale...wish listed!

So there ya go...round 2. Hope that helps! See anything you like? Any must haves? As always I never leave Anthropologie without a few new favorites!

Hope you're having a great day! I'm looking forward to tonight...I'll be front and center on the couch tonight for the premier of The Bachelorette just like some other bloggy friends I know! =) Can't wait!!!

Anthro Fitting Room Reviews (May)-part 1

I took a trip to Anthropologie on Tuesday and tried on quite a few things. As mentioned before I fell hard for a few things, while some things were not as impressive. I'll go ahead and dive right in:

Sunrise Shirt Dress-$168 (Cream motif)

So as I posted before, this dress caused my heart to skip a beat...the second I put it on I fell in love. I tried on both a size 2 and 4 and while the size 2 fit, I felt the 4 looked a little better on me. Plus it was a touch longer which is a good thing. The dress itself has a slip sewn into it (so it's not a separate piece of anything) which is a major plus in my eyes. I don't love separate slips in dresses so this to me made it seem like a well made dress. There are also two hooks on the side of the middle-ish button to help keep it shut which is a nice touch. I love the attention to detail in this dress. The color of is a creamy-white in person and paired with a dark belt would look divine. This is one of those dresses that will stand the test of time...it will never go out of style. I am keeping my eye on it for now and if I see it selling out fast I will grab it up at full price...that's how much I love it.

Bette Cardigan-$68 (Sky motif) and Loosened Shelby Blouse-$58 (Blue motif)

This blouse has been on my radar ever since it came out. It's the sister blouse to the Eastpointe Garden top that I already own I would say (same style and cut). I took a size 0 in this top (I also took a size 0 in the Eastpointe Garden Top but I think this new blouse is a tad more fitted, which I like). I've paired it with the super cute Bette Cardigan which comes in four different colors. My favorite of the bunch was this turquoise color, and I love it paired with this blouse. I am wearing an X-Small in this cardigan and it fit well. I would never plan on buttoning it up so I didn't even try it out. Thumbs up on both of these items...definitely wishlisted for sale (or sooner if they start selling out!)

Luminescent Top-$39.95 (now on SALE but SOLD OUT online)

I was excited to see this top hit sale as I thought it was really cute online. When I tried it on I really liked it...so I thought. Blame it on the fitting room mirrors, blame it on me being in a rush to get through trying on as many clothes as I could with my two boys running all around the dressing room...whatever it was I just didn't see it at home in the mirror the way I saw it in the dressing room mirror. I got home and tried it on again and decided it was just too long for it to look the way I wanted it to. Had it been about 3-4 inches shorter it would have been a keeper, but I just can't get past the tunic-ish length with the band at the bottom. It's really a pretty top and very unique so I'm sad to say this one will be going back.

Slouched Raglan Scoopneck-$58 (Orange motif)

I tried this top on in both an X-Small and a Small. The X-Small was way to short for my liking (I think the X-Small is what I'm wearing in the picture) and the Small was also short and SUPER huge. The shirt is very sheer as well and would require an undershirt. The only thing I did like was the color...it's a very pretty soft shade of orange. This is a definite PASS for me.

Sudden Downpour Top-$98 (Neutral motif)

This cute top comes in many different colors but I was particularly drawn to this neutral motif. I tried on the X-Small and the fit was good. It is definitely meant to be blousey so it does have a lot of fabric to it. I styled it a few different ways in the dressing room as you can see above--by itself, with a cardigan and belted and I think I like it belted the best. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this as I don't think it's unique enough to merit the $98 price tag, but on sale I might consider. Wishlisted!

Hace Sol Peasant Top-$78 (Yellow motif)

I've had this top on my wish list for a while now so I was excited to see it in person. I LOVE the bright yellow color...it's so fun! I tried on the size 0 because it looked like it might run big, and I was right. I really could have used one size down from the 0 but I guess I'm out of luck. I'm not swimming in it but it's definitely not as fitted as it could be. I am keeping this on my wish list for now and will reconsider once it hits sale. My girlfriend ending up picking this one up for herself...she'll look great in it!

Penthesilea Tunic-$118 (Blue motif)

This top is a bit out of the box for me but as soon as I saw it on the website I was totally into it! I tried in on in a size XS and the fit was great. It's another top that's meant to be blousey, of course. I belted it with the Crossroads belt that I had worn into the store and loved it together. With it's hefty price tag this beauty will be sitting still on my wish list for a while and I'll consider it at sale time if it's still around, for sure.

Counting Angles Dress-$168 (Orange motif)

This dress was not for me. Period. I honestly can't remember what size I tried on...it was either an X-Small or a Small...sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the tag. Whatever it was it was not happening. The dress has a separate slip that I could not get to fall right. You can adjust it which I should have tried but by the time I actually got the dress on (which was a chore in itself) I had already decided it wasn't for me so I didn't bother. I think this would look much cuter on someone who is blessed a little more on the upper half...I'm definitely not and it kind of just hung on me. It kind of swallowed me up on top....there's a lot of fabric. The length was actually ok on me as it came to the top of my knee, but that was not enough to change my mind. Definite PASS for me, but I can picture others looking great in it.

Linear Landscape Maxi-$158

It's so hard to find a Maxi dress with short sleeves that doesn't require a cardigan these days...seems they're all sleeveless! I did try a short-sleeved striped Maxi dress at Forever 21 a while back but it just didn't do it for me. It was too plain and looked too young. I tried this cute Maxi on in an X-Small and found it to be a bit too tight all over. I would definitely need to go with the Small (which I didn't get to try on). The angled design on this dress makes an otherwise plain dress a little more exciting. I love the idea of being able to throw on a dress and maybe a belt and calling it a day...super easy. When I showed my husband all the pictures of my reviews he actually picked this dress out as his favorite of the bunch (didn't expect that) so clearly that means when it hits sale it would be a tragedy if it didn't end up in my closet, right?! =) Wishlisted!

There's the first half...I'll post the second half in my next post. See anything you like? Anything you don't?Did you grab any of these for yourself??

Speaking of clothes, I have about 5 giant loads of laundry calling my name...all clean but need to be folded. Don't be jealous. =)

Have a great day!

Twitterpated

Happy middle of the week! Hope everyone has had a good few days...I have! I have a couple OOTD pictures to share with you from the past few days, and then I'll get to explaining the title of this post.

First up is what I wore on Monday:

Details:
-Striped Boatneck Top-Loft
-Skinny Jeans-American Eagle
-Toms-Nordstrom
-Necklace and Earrings-Stella & Dot
-Ring-Forever 21

I'm loving my Toms, by the way. They're so easy to wear and I don't think they look too "house-shoe-ish" at all. I love that mine sparkle a little with the sequins!

And here's what I wore yesterday...it's pretty much a repeat of what I wore one day on our Disney vacation in December....just changed out the belt:

Details:
-Sweater/Cardigan-Love 21 for Forever 21
-Top-Ann Taylor Factory
-Ultimate Skinny Jeans-Banana Republic
-Crossroads Belt-Anthropologie
-Dollhouse Boots-Endless
-Necklace-Lisa Leonard Designs
-Earrings-Anthropologie
-Ring-Forever 21

What, is that an Anthro fitting room I'm in you ask? Why YES! I headed out with my two younger boys and my girlfriend and her youngest to hit up our local Anthro yesterday morning (local meaning like a 50 minute drive) to see if we could score any tag sale goodies (this was of course after we had both stayed up till midnight to see what we could score online). We had a fun time together and the kids were all shockingly pretty good. Many thanks go to the makers of iPhones, DVD players and DS's for that. What on earth did my parent's do without all the gadgets for us kids all those years ago? Anyhow, overall I thought the sale was a little disappointing...as in hardly anything on my wish list actually hit sale. Granted, many things I'm lusting after right now are on the newer side but I thought at least a few might go one sale. Nope. Never fear...that didn't stop me from finding a few gems. We both tried on about half the store...I ruled out a few things I thought I might like, I added a few new things to my wish list...and I even fell in love. I am completely and utterly twitterpated with this:

Sunrise Shirt Dress:

SWOON!!! I walked by this dress once or twice in the store thinking it would be too short on me but really loving it more and more each time I looked at it. I had seen it online in all three colors but my store only had this creamy-white color in stock (which happened to be my favorite of the three colors). At the last second as I was headed into the dressing room I decided to grab it to give it a go..and once I put it on....it was love at first sight (and it fell to the top of my knee--yay). I'm pretty sure when you go to bed thinking about a dress and then wake up the next morning with it still fresh on your mind that pretty much makes you twitterpated. So that's my story of the white dress...the one that WILL be mine. I already warned my husband. =)

So here's a peek at what I did bring home with me from the sale:

Everything I got was on sale except that cute pleated coral colored Squeezebox top. I just couldn't resist it. I ended up ordering 2 different sizes of the sandals because of mixed reviews online about them running big...we'll see if either of them work. I scored the Cinchona cardigan on 2nd cuts ($29.95) and my girlfriend found me that cute denim skirt deep in the sale room racks while we were looking around. How did I not ever notice this skirt before? Apparently it went on sale a while ago so it was a lucky find. Like I said, kind of a disappointing sale, but still plenty to be had.

I have tons of clothing reviews for you from my trip to Anthro yesterday, including the gorgeous Sunrise Shirt Dress, so check back for those. It'll take me a bit to compile it all. For now I'm off to figure out what's for dinner...have a good night!

What I Wore: Weekend Edition

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? Ours was great...lots of family time and we just enjoyed relaxing. My boys requested to go to breakfast Saturday morning so we headed out to Mimi's Cafe and grabbed some good eats...it was so yummy! We rarely go out to eat breakfast as a family...it's usually lunch or dinner on the weekends, so breakfast was a fun change.

So the weather has lost it's mind here in the bay area the past few days and thinks it's December again apparently...it's been a little chilly! I brought out some of my cold weather clothes yet again...here's a few outfits I wore this weekend:

Friday:

Details:

Sunday:

I actually forgot to take a picture of my whole outfit yesterday but I snapped this quick picture of the top half (after I had changed into jeans) so you could see the necklace I got from my Stella and Dot party...it's super pretty!

Please ignore the marks all over the mirror...this was taken in my kids' bathroom. Enough said. =)

Alright, I'm off to do preschool drop-off and then go to the gym. I woke up and ran 5 miles this morning and it felt SOOO good! I love a good run...perfect way to start off the week. By the way, anyone else dying of anticipation over what's gonna hit sale at Anthro tonight?? I can't wait! Not that I need a thing, but you know, it never hurts to look, right? I've definitely got my eye on a few things!!

Happy Shopping!!!

Dwarf Quince

Yesterday I felt like wearing my white Curvy jeans from Gap. They've been sitting in my closet waiting for their debut and yesterday was the day! I LOVE these jeans. I happen to love them so much that I think I might need them in the dark denim color as well. They are perfection. I'm always leery of ordering Gap jeans online without first trying them on however because it seems like even a different color of the same fit runs differently in sizes (for instance the reviews say the white Curvy jeans fit differently than the dark denim color in the Curvy jeans). Next weekend I'm headed to the city with some of the other resident wives for a girl's day so I may stop in and try them on to see how they fit and pick up a pair. Anyhow, back to my outfit...here's what I wore with my white jeans:

Yesterday was also the first time I got to wear my new bracelets I picked out for my anniversary! The second one that had to be re-sized arrived at my doorstep finally and I LOVE it! You'll be seeing a lot of these in the near future, I'm sure.

Any big plans for the weekend? We don't have a whole lot going on which is nice. Just planning on enjoying some family time together. I got the movie "The Romantics" in the mail the other day from Netflix so maybe we'll pull that out and watch it tonight after the kiddos go to bed. Anyone seen it? It didn't get the best of reviews but I like most chick flicks regardless of the reviews. Talking my husband into watching it may be a harder sell. I also picked up the book "Something Borrowed" the other day. After seeing the movie previews I was intrigued and decided that I want to try to read it before I go see it. We'll see if I actually get around to finishing it...I started reading it the other night (late) but didn't make it too far before my eyes got heavy and I fell asleep...I'm on page 8. =)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Winding Roads

Hi everyone! How's your Wednesday going? Mine has been busy....I got up early to run, I went to the gym, got my older boys registered for swimming lessons in June right after school gets out, I took all three kiddos to get their dental check-ups and now I'm back home to work on some more laundry, homework and figure out what's for dinner. I'm thinking it's a breakfast for dinner kind of night.

Today I pulled out one of my first few Anthro purchases from last summer...the Winding Roads tank. I loved this tank the second I saw it and waited patiently for it to go on sale. This yellow tank has been a great purchase and has gotten great wear. Here's how I styled it today:

I did a little digging....

It happens to me all the time...I see something I HAVE to have, come up with a million outfits with that something in my head, purchase that something (on sale if possible) and then that special little something comes home with me and gets lost in my closet. Sad. In recent months (since the new year) I have gotten much more choosy about what I purchase. I have really tried hard to make sure I love each something special enough to not let them get lost deep into the abyss that is my closet. I think I've done much better. There may be one or two things I've purchased in recent months that I'm still on the fence about but overall it's drastically improved. Yesterday when I decided to go digging and find one of these lost special somethings I came across this cute top I purchased last summer at Loft. I remember being excited at the possibilities when I bought it but when I think back to how many times I've actually worn it, the grand total is 2. There's something wrong with that. So I brought it out to play yesterday:

While we're being honest here, these shoes have also been hiding in my closet since I purchased them last year as well. I can't even think of when I wore them last. I picked them up on clearance for under $20 at Target, and while they were a killer deal, things are really only a good deal if you get some wear out of them, right? So I'll be trying to wear these a little more too I think.

So tell me I'm not the only one that has hidden treasures in my closet! Are there things you buy (and LOVE when you buy them) but then forget about? My go-to tool lately for making sure this doesn't happen anymore is Polyvore. I know I've expressed my love for Polyvore before, but I just can't say enough good things about it. I still need to upload all my skirts and dresses into it but with everything else already uploaded it makes it so easy to come up with an outfit, and see what I have. It was so funny...I've showed my husband Polyvore before and explained to him what it was...he thought it was kinda neat but you know, he's a guy. He didn't really care much. Then last week he came home from his rotation in Fresno and said he overheard some nurses at the hospital talking about clothes and he heard the word "Polyvore" come up...he was pretty proud of himself for knowing what they were talking about. So funny. He wouldn't dream of telling anyone he actually knew what it was though, I'm sure. =)

I've deemed this morning my stay at home morning to take care of laundry, catch up on a few phone calls and emails, bills, etc...we're all still in our pj's and I have to say, it's nice to have a morning off from all the running around (except school drop off which YES, I did in my pj's...I just stay in the car so no one is the wiser). This afternoon we're meeting up with friends to get out and enjoy the sun at the park...I love the bay area in the spring when the sun is out!

Hope you all have a great day!

What I Wore: Mother's Day edition

Happy Monday everyone! It's GORGEOUS here in the bay area today...looks like we'll be having a pretty nice week weather-wise...yay!! Yesterday was Mother's Day of course, and it was a great day. My sweet husband bought me the Marc Jacob's "Daisy" perfume and then my kids spoiled me with homemade cards, a book my son made at school and a candle they all picked out. I love my boys! We had church bright and early so there was no breakfast in bed happening...but we did have a very yummy dinner and dessert. It was a great, relaxing day. Don't you wish every day was Mother's day?!! =)

Here's what I wore to church for Mother's Day:

Today it's back to the daily routine...I'm headed out to drop my son off at preschool and then it's off to the gym. Hope you all have a great start to the week!

Recovering from a crazy week!!!

This has been one busy week! My in laws left to go home this morning...hope we didn't wear them out too bad! We were on the go constantly, but it was a lot of fun. We spent our last night out with them in Sausalito. We walked around for a bit and then stopped by the local candy store for some Salt Water Taffy (which I've eaten SOOOO much of today, by the way...bad!!!) and then had dinner at "The Spinnaker" restaurant right on the bay. The restaurant has the most amazing view of San Francisco outside their floor to ceiling windows all around...it's really cool. It happened to be perfectly clear as the sun went down last night so we could see the Golden Gate off to one side and then the city, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge off to the other. GORGEOUS! Today was spent just hanging out and recouping from the week. I got up, ran, cleaned up a little around the house and then went to a baby shower this afternoon. I felt like getting a little dressed up today but wanted to be super comfortable at the same time so I pulled out a Maxi dress I picked up from Forever 21 a while ago. At $15 you just can't beat the price! I actually bought 2 others just like it...one in a dark blue and the other in a black and white Ikat print (Tricia wore it HERE). Three dresses for under $50...not bad at all! Here's how I styled the one I wore today:

Details:
-Rope Strap Maxi Dress-Forever 21
-Cardigan-Old Navy (2010)
-Sandals-Journeys (3 years old)
-Lucky Necklace-Macy's
-Ring-Forever 21
-Earrings/Bracelet-Stella and Dot

I highly recommend these Maxi dresses if you're in the market for one!

Before I sign off, I just wanted to wish all the mothers out there a Happy Mother's Day tomorrow...hope everyone has a great day with their families! I love being a mother and am so grateful for my three boys. It's the most rewarding job I could ever have...I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Anniversary Date

Hi everyone! I've been a bit MIA this week since my inlaws have been here visiting us. We've been having a blast...we spent one day in Napa and wine country, one day in San Francisco and then today was my husband's and my 10 year wedding anniversary! My sweet inlaws were kind enough to take on my three munchkins tonight while hubby and I got away for a bit, just the two of us. We went to dinner where he gave me an envelope with $$$ in it for me to spend at every girl's favorite store ...Tiffany! Wow, what a surprise...I was shocked! He knew I'd notice a charge or withdrawal from our account if he did it all at once or bought something on his own so he had slowly been pulling out $20 here and $20 there for a while to give me to spend tonight. What a fun thing to enter Tiffany knowing that I got to pick something out and actually take it home with me! Usually I'm just looking for fun. Needless to say he scored a perfect "10" on the gift-giving this year!!! Wanna see what I picked out? I ended up choosing these cute bracelets to wear stacked together (one is 10mm beads and the other is a little bigger with 14mm beads):

I LOVE them and can't wait to wear them!

In honor of our special day I wanted to wear something bright and bold...so I put this together:

And here's a quick picture we took on our way out to dinner:

I have to say, I was stopped no less than 7 times tonight and complemented on my red Rock Candy Necklace...it was a conversation piece, for sure! Kudos to Anthropologie for making such a stand out piece of jewelry! =)

I feel like it should be Friday night tonight but it's really only Thursday and the kiddos have school tomorrow so it's off to bed I go. Hope you're having a great week so far...enjoy your Friday!
